seeing what they do now + how they do it - it would have been nice to see The Cure finish with their Trilogy shows - can't stand the new sound + the way they murder the old classics... (just have a look at that horrible Festival 2005 dvd)... after having seen them so many times, it is quite sad what they became.

I would agree that The Cure has lost some magic in their live performances. I was also disappointed by the Festival DVD. I saw them live in '04 during the Curiosa Tour, and came away enjoying Interpol's energetic set a lot more. The Cure is a top 5 band for me, too. Sometimes I wonder if the guys at the soundboard are doing something different these days. Some bands I've seen live over the past several years don't seem to have that powerful 'punch' in their sound anymore. Just listen to The Cure's Entreat CD from '89. Yes, that was a long time ago, but why can't they sound that good today? The song Disintegration nowadays sounds like it's played in slow motion.

Another disappointment was the last Tears For Fears show I saw, for the Happy Ending tour. No other way to explain it - they were flat out boring on stage. It really bothered me that they played Famous Last Words FROM THE CD for intro music. For the first 20 seconds, I thought they were actually going to open with it live, which would've been great. Once Roland's pre-recorded vocals came on, I felt gyped. Didn't help that I wasn't crazy about the new album. I'm guessing they played that song because it was the 'last' Roland/Curt song. The Elemental tour in '94 was way better, if that's saying anything.
