will be playing 3 nights later this week in NYC.
The blurb reads that they are from New Zealand, influenced Pavement.
Any further description of them, comments on how worthy they are of receiving my hard-earned cash[:D]?

David Kilgour's original band? They're pretty historic. Have been really digging them since Otters turned me on to them a few years ago. Most especially love their distortion filled early tracks like 1981's "Point That Thing Somewhere Else". I was about to post it until I saw that most all their great tracks are on The Clean - Anthology and available for sampling.

Yes. It must be the band. Now I have to figure out where they are playing.

Definitely intriguing whenever you can catch an early influential band like them. Checking my schedule... [:)]

They've added a Philly show. I'd hope for Boston but David Kilgour played TT the Bear's a couple of weeks ago and Lady Otters and I were about 1/15 of the crowd. I can't see why he'd be willing to go back. I really really would love to see them.

Looks like they're doing an "in-house" freebie at Other Music
"Tuesday 11/27 @ 8 pm: THE CLEAN
This is the Clean's first NYC performance in years, on the eve of their
upcoming run at the Cake Shop. As far as we can tell, this band
invented indie rock, and their songs are indelible to the very fabric of
Other Music."

I'm a fan of The Clean, and I'm looking forward to seeing them at the Cake Shop on Thurs.
David Kilgour's solo material is first rate. Check out his disc "Here Come the Cars", or "Frozen Orange" for a sampler. The collection of outtakes "First Steps & False Alarms" is also a spectacularly haunting collage of lo-fi snippets & noodlings.

Evidently they were "special" guests of Yo La Tengo at Maxwell's this past Wednesday night.

I'd rather have seen them at Maxwell's. While the show was great, the cake shop is a poor venue for a concert.

Here's a videoclip of the performance/interview.

ps Other Music is quite possibly NYC's best music store.
