They'll also be at the SXSW festival. After catching them twice last year in SD and LA though, I won't be checking them out again - somewhat of a 1 or 2 trick pony. But without a doubt, really really fun if you haven't seen them recently. Wakeling is just a very warm and engaging soul. Definitely catch them if you haven't since the 80s (or ever).

I agree, Dave opened for Devo and I was very impressed. Great show.

Thanks for the post Glokstadt. I wish I could've seen them last year when they had a couple of The Specials on board!

Just out of curiosity, I wonder if Dave had to buy the rights to the band name from the other original members, or was it all his from the beginning?

Shit. Two days too late. Thanks for the post regardless, glok. For a moment I thought it was a cruel joke. The infamous Palladium in Salt Lake City has been defunct for about 18 years now - but it seems someone has resurrected it in name at least. I had no idea - thanks. I got to see them in 06, so all is not lost.

No worries, glok. Actually, I'm sorry - I was frustrated only with myself, for not paying more attention to local goings on. You did me a service by cluing me in to a new local club. Now, if only you can hook me up with a clean PX200 with lots of chrome . . .[;)]

I bought a few tix to see them at Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ on May 21st. Looking forward to it.

I saw Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger perform as General Public at the limelight 7 or 8 years ago (in support of the album 'Rub It Better', which I thought was surprisingly good).

Doing Specials songs as well, since Lynval Golding is touring with them...
