20th year reunions?

Count me in among those that graduated and didn't look back. I'm not in contact with anyone from back then, and that's the way I plan to keep it.

I've never been to any reunions, partly because I don't live near my hometown anymore and partly because I am totally not interested in the comparisons and judgments that inevitably take place. Plus I was never really good friends with anybody in HS anyway. I did see some girlfriends ten years after graduation, and that was interesting to see what direction their lives had turned, but not interesting enough for me to keep in touch. We're just in totally different places. I did recently meet up with an old friend through classmates.com, and that was enough to satisfy my curiosity. But go to a reunion? I probably never will.

Well gang,
I just returned from it (travelled up to WA state ) and it was fun, but underwhelming. Hardly any of my old friends were there, other than the friends with whom I went.

2 things struck me: 1. Altho lots of extra weight has been gained by the cheerleaders, the athletic guys were still looking good, and there weren't as many scraggy-looking folks as I'd thought there would be. But maybe those were the one who didn't come, eh?

2. NO-ONE, and I mean NO-ONE, remembered the New wave scene like I did/ do. Like middle America, I think they just remember the bad fashions and the Flock of Seagulls hair (personally, I love the AFOS hair, but you know....) sigh...

I'm glad I went, but whoever up above was right in saying that the old cliques hung out together, the bitchy girls were still bitchy, and everyone else was pretty friendly and had left HS behind long ago.

many truths in you guys' observations...i went to mine a month ago and here's my 1.5 cents worth.

--VERY underwhelming

--I was completely put off by the blurb in the invitation stating "dress to impress." can you believe that? we're almost pushing 40, and they're still worried about impressing everyone!

--quick backstory, we had many sororities and a fraternity in our high school. no, they were not sanctioned by the school, but it was a tradition that started in the 50's, so it was well-tolerated. but, the sorority clique was alive and kicking, and, what's worse, they hardly moved from their side of the room. bitches were still still bitches and assholes were still assholes. the usual.

--my senior class was almost 600 strong, but only graduated +/- 500, and was racially balanced between black and white. and although i enjoyed it, the music was 100% r&b. no flock of seagulls, cure, a-ha...nothing.

the jury is still out on my satisfaction level...

The only way I would go to see my class full of assholes, is with a loaded gun and a twinkle in my eye. I saw these jerks when I went to my grammar school reunion. It was a big mistake. The assholes were still assholes. And I'm sure they still are now.

I went to my 25'th a few years back and I graduated in a fairly small school (graduation class of 75) and it was odd at how all of the cool guys in the popular cliques were all large and or bald and all the girls were wearing vests?? In my updated bio they compiled and handed out got my bio all wrong and made me sound like a guy who lives in Church which was such a stark contrast to my long hair and full beard party monkey dude that I was in School. I even had a couple guys ask me to sneek out to their truck and do some bongs (not).It was fun, but it'll probably be the last one. I was the ONLY ONE who wasn't a dork[:D] [:p]

A friend of mine helped with our 10-year reunion back in 2002. She said at the first meeting, the group of about 12 or so were going through our yearbooks, making lists of "desirable" and "undesirable" classmates. If anyone ever did anything too terribly stupid or bad, they didn't make the cut and weren't sent an invitation.

That just confirmed what I already knew--those people sucked the whole time we were growing up, they still suck now, and at every future reunion and until the end of time, they will be fat, bald, ugly, wrinkly, old, saggy and dried up--and they will STILL suck.

Agreed. And I have yet to see one of those assholes do something meaningful with their lives. Like helping others.
