in the 70s there was a song titled Fire by a female (?) artist..
lyrics; "romeo and juliet" - "when we kissed....F-I-R-E" any ideas?

BTW Bruce Springsteen did the original version & he's the composer.

Springsteen wrote it originally for Robert Gordon, who recorded it on one of his albums in 77 or so? It was a minor hit.

Then, the Pointless Sisters picked up on it a few years later and made it a hit

And that is a perfectly good assumption as well.

It's not often you come across artists anymore that write songs for others. And it's unheard of nowadays to give away a 'great' song to another artist as well.

The Beatles did it a lot in the early days and Springsteen did it before he hit real big with Born In THe USA.

He also wrote "Because The Night" for Patti Smith....

Prince also comes to mind as a sort of modern day songwriter for others, you know, as one with success as an artist himself.

I wonder if anyone else really does this nowadays.
