Escalator etiquette

Postby enzfan » Mon Dec 18, 2006 8:22 am

My last visit to mall brought on this thought, while on the escalator do you give way to people in a hurry to walk down the escalator and allow them to pass you or do you hold your ground regardless of the amount of persons behind you and take the slow ride to the bottom without giving way?

I just stand there and annoy them . . . if you wanna walk, take the goddamned stairs. I realize we live in fast-paced world, but it's not going to cause you a great deal of hassle if you get to the Orange Julius counter two seconds later.

*EDIT - Urgh. Xmas shopping. Malls. The horror. Thanks for the reminder.

I'll let them pass, but there's no way I'm going to start walking because they are in a hurry.

When I lived in Boston there was one subway stop (Porter Square) that had this gigantic escaltor that looked like it was taking you down to some nuclear war safe chamber in the center of the earth. It used to really, really piss me off when people would rush down the escalator because if they pushed you & you happened to fall - it was a looooooong way down.

I always get bothered when little kids make a playground out of the escalator, running up and down while their parents are either engrossed on a shopping spree or just don't care enough to know whether their kids are safe or not.[:(!][:(!][:(!]
