YOU pay for that. The people that can pay, pay. The people that can't, don't. The chemicals themselves aren't very expensive. The R&D costs are huge. Like I said, pharmas would love to find that sort of chronic care...but they haven't. Like you said, "what IF".

Sorry to hear about yoru friend. I disagree abotu when you are youngyou dont' hear about cancer though, when I was little a nun mum knew died of breast cancer, my friend's mum had breast cancer when I was about 13 or 14. Quite a few members of my family have died of cancer, my friend's Dad died of lung cancer last year. So basically I'm only 35 and have known people who have had cancer all my life![:(]

I know, you're right, I need to chill from time to time. Sorry. Bad news - you're always going to get unfilter Blir. Good news (maybe) - you're always going to get unfiltered Blir.

Unfiltered Blir...sounds like a brand of swamp water.

Seriously, both my wife and I have lost family members to cancer, so there aren't many days when we don't think about it. Blir makes an excellent point about the potential financial windfall in the event of the discovery of a control/cure, and I think there is a huge effort to find one. Also true, like many things, a sizable amount of the money donated/raised/invested to find a cure does get eaten up in administration and support services instead of being directly used for research.
