worst case scenario (family death)

what is the worst thing that has happened to someone that has "lost" a family member due to death? --- My grandparents adopted me (plus my brother and sister) one day after i turned six years old on Oct 02, 1970. ---- My adoptive parents, mostly my father, has really helped me out over the years, but love me equally. both of them have taught me alot of things and given me "good advice", etc. Both of them are in their 80's and i dont know how much longer they will "be here". Ive thought about it, yet im not sure how i wiil take it or handle it when the time comes. I fear that i will totally lose it when it happens, that it will go beyond the norm. this is a serious and realistic situation - please help
