Not a depressing thread but really...what do you expect to leave?
I'll start off by giving some advice. I work with this subject every day. I have clients die all the time and the rest are not far off. I say one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. When people get old, they have different ideas too. This is because their lives do not require them to think like they used to. So you might notice old people hang on to crap for no real reason. Do you think that the crystal cat figure collection will be put in a museum? Nope. truth is that 99% of all your stuff will be tossed in the garbage. Your kids might save one or two things that mean a lot but thats it. In reality your kids have their own lives and sadly after they die, you will be forgotten. Or after your grandkids go thats it. No statues or monuments.
So first I will say life is all about the person you are and what you do for others not your crystal cats. So be the best person you can be and do for others.
That out of the way, I plan to leave my kids with a few things they will never toss out unlike my rotting corpse.
1-My music collection. Even though most old people end up giving their records to me,I raised my kids to love music and really lose themselves in the sound.
2- my pictures. Nobody throws out pictures. And I put them in order in albums for the kids to see everything during their lives. I do this because my parents took 2 pictures of me in my whole life and you guys saw them.
3- My letters! I said before that I keep a journal addressed to each of my kids with my thoughts about them and everything. I do this because...I have no idea what my parents were thinking.
