"We Will Rock You" / "We Are the Champions"

Postby retrophil06 » Mon Nov 12, 2007 5:00 am

Weve all heard "We Will Rock You" / "We Are the Champions" by Queen played back to back for many years. Do any of you suppose that because of the very short puase in between the two songs, some DJ didnt get to to record arm fast enough to stop it before "We Are the Champions" began to play? With that posibility, is that how it became traditional to play the two songs back to back?

That's exactly it! Johnny "Sexy Package" Packowski of WKJC Paducah, KY didn't pick up the needle in time and phenomenon was born. Funny how the record companies never figured out they should release it as a double A-side single.

It may be because the two songs were released as a single video promo. If anyone is interested, I can shoot you a link of the unedited video(s) as proof. Only later, with Mtv, did the video get cut in half.

Here it be's...

Funny...I may be all confused. Didn't the radio version start with We Will Rock You? The video order is reversed.

Anyhoo...this is how I first saw it on Casey Casem's Top 10 tv show, so whaddaya know.

There used to be a old station out here that would play We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions Champions separately. It didn't feel right at all. Kind of like playing The Kings Beat Goes On and Switchin To Glide Separately. Queen rocks by the way.
