Soviet Union tried that. Hasn't worked out too well for them. Corruption, bureaucracy and oppression are just as rampant there, if not more so.
But if you want to run for Czar, Premier or Grand Puba I'll still vote for you. Couldn't be any worse than Monica Lewinsky's ex-boyfriend's wife!

Comparing apples and oranges a bit aren't we there, Craig? The Soviet Union was a totalitarian dictatorship that espoused atheism because they wanted total devotion to the State. My view is that in our Constitutional Republic seperation of church and state is not only essential to avoid the kind of religious strife most other parts of the world have undergone in the last 2+ centuries, but assures all citizens protection--regardless of their creed (or lack thereof)--under the Constiution. Decaying that seperation has grave implications for our Country's future (IMO).
