Fox's 'New Amsterdam' series

Postby Frau_Blucher » Sun Feb 10, 2008 6:57 am

Just saw a commercial for this, and it instantly reminded me of a great book called 'Forever' by Peter Hamill from 2002. It's a fanstastic read that weaves in a lot of history. I've given it as a gift to a few friends who live in Manhattan, and each has absolutely loved it. I can't imagine the producers wouldn't be crediting Hamill - it's such an obvious knock-off. Regardless, I'm definitely going to watch it, hoping against hope that they don't fuck it up.

It's a Dennis Leary produced series--could be good.

Now I'm really puzzled as to why the character was changed from Irish to Dutch...other than to make a cloying fit to the title.

The pilot is pretty bad. I don't know if it gets any better, but there's no way it can ever get better enough as to make it watchable.

It was also pulled off the fall schedule at the last minute and essentially cancelled. With the writer's strike about to come to an end, FOX has about as much use for it as Alan Keyes has for a presidential ballot.
