Any fans of this English sci-fi comedy? Lister, Kryton, Rimmer, Cat and Holly? Good stuff. My son has been collecting the entire output and I've been watching them.

Have you seen the episode "Backwards" yet? Gross but CLASSIC ending . . .

Smeg yes. I'm the world's biggest fan of Kryten. I got hooked years ago when they first aired. I have most of the DVD sets, but I'm missing a few discs from season 7 and 8. They get better and better towards the end of the series. Season 1 and 2 were so so - once they added Kryten (Rober Llewellen, not the first guy) it got really funny. Some of my favorite episodes: Gunmen of the Apocalypse, Terrorform, Krytie TV, and Meltdown. They were supposed to be making a feature length movie but I don't think it worked out for some reason.

There was also an Americanized version with Robert Llewellen pilot made (actually I think 3 were made) but it failed miserably.

I love English comedies...The Goodies, Rising Damp, Python (of course).

I'm surprised that pilots made with Robert Llewellen would fail - I always found him the best part of the show. Could it be they were made with the original Kryten: David Ross? Or, maybe the writing was just terrible. Llewellen didn't actually enter the series until Season 3, unless I'm mistaken. If you haven't seen episode "Kryten", give it view and compare to the later episodes with Llewellen. Never have two portrayals of the same character been so starkly different. I'm sure Ross is a fine actor, but he just didn't cut it as Kryten.

Robert was the only good thing about the pilots...the Lister character was a 6' blue eyed blonde haired actor (quite different from the Lister we are familiar with) and Cat ended up being a woman! Holly was played by the woman on Frasier who was the care giver to Martin. Go figger! The English writers even came over to punch up the script but us Americans rejected it. All in all, it was pretty bad.
