Apparently Sony played this video at their executive conference this year....

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cL9Wu2kWwSY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cL9Wu2kWwSY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Definitely neat and obviously made for effect, but stats are a strange beast. Okay, the top 25% of India's students equal all the american students in number. But only 10% of those guys go to college, and of those who graduate, only 25% are deemed employable. The US is approaching 50% college enrollment and about 92% of young graduates are employed. My reaction is that we'd better keep investing to keep our edge on all fronts, so if the video is simply a call to innovate, it's pretty good.

As to the exponential nature of developments, I'm sure there were analogies back near the turn of the last century - miles of train track laid, number of automobiles, light bulb production, tuberculosis cases, whatever. We're not the first generation to invent staggering change. No doubt that the accelerated pace of everything is interesting and maybe even concerning to some, but beyond that, I don't know what it means. Our kids and their kids will just think everything's the norm.

Thanks for the link. Interesting mix of real ideas, hyperbole, games with numbers & nonsense.
