For me:

1. Turning Japanese (Vapors)

and

2. Ant Music (Adam & Ants)

I mean, what do you do when these songs come on? There's no way you can possibly dance to these songs and still be cool, is there? LOL!

It's a cool song, but I look like I'm having a seizure whenever I dance to "One Day" by APB. It's all in the neck.

I'm pretty sure I was with DayGlo Jo & Bfflogrrl this particular night, but the dj started playing this song that had an awesome, big beat, & sort of hard guitars, perfect dancing song after a night of bland top 40 stuff. We ran to the dance floor, and started jumping around, only to find it was the Village People - Sleazy....and we were the only ones out there, in a club packed with about 500 people.... wicked embarrassing.

It's not New Wave but i remember feeling funny dancing to "The Nuetron Dance" when i was like 17 at a club called jezebels that me and a buddy snuck into.

I had some geeky friends who used to do the Charleston to "Goody Two Shoes". Fortunately or unfortunately, I was never that coordinated.

Also - I think "Turning Japanese" is a fine song for dancing.

I used to dance "The Robot" to anything by Depeche Mode....mainly for laughs...well..ahem..strictly for laughs.

BTW "Turning Japanese" is not about masturbation. They had a VH1 special on it a few years ago.

LOL. According to the band that song was about the confusion and excitement everyone goes through when they're about to fall in love. They made up the metaphor "turning Japanese" to describe it and also to go along with the song, which had a Japanese-ish sound already.

I always stroked it to "Cathy's Clown" by The Everly Brothers.

I always thought Edelweiss was a kind of goofy song with that maniacal laugh / yodel / whatever.

OMG, I LOVE the Everly Brothers!!

Ghosty -- email me, I have a great "Cathy's Clown" story to share (but not on a public forum, lol!)

Scramjet, ha-ha -- Charleston to Goody Two Shoes must have been hilarious!

When I used to DJ at the Pyramid Club in NYC I'd get everyone dancing real fine to goth and new wave, some would tip me too (ha-ha), then I'd throw them off by playing something like KISS and clear out that dance floor. HA! Loved having that power!!

Then there would always be a few guys at the back bar giving me a "thumb's up" sign -- it was great!

I once played "King of the Road" by Roger Miller and some famous person (I'm not going to say, I don't want to name drop) praised my set to high heavens. I always admired this person, so that felt good.

Did anyone ever dance to "Who Killed Bambi" by Ten Pole Tudor -- ha! I'd put that on, then go to the dance floor and jump on someone's back and get a piggy back ride across the floor

on special occasions it has been known for the DJ at my favourite club to play oingo boingo 'weird science' for us...but only if i remember to take the CD along with me! [:D]

try dancing to that btw! it's harder when you're drunk!
