How should the USA secure it's borders?

When I saw the topic header, "big-ass wall" was the exact phrase that immediately came to mind before I even opened it. Guess what I voted for. [:D][:D][:D]

The government should quit talking the talk and start walking the walk as far as illegals crossing our borders. The border patrol is understaffed and over worked.

Since we're talking about the illegal alien problem...

There's a whole world of difference between someone who applies for legal entry and citizenshp and someone who creeps in illegally or just decides to not get back on the truck when the rest of the migrant workers go back home.

Contrary to what the bleeding hearts would have us believe, illegal immigrants have not earned their citizenship and deserve nothing at all from this country but a quick trip back home.

Companies that hire illegals should be kicked to the curb with a heavy penalty fee. Maybe then they'll stop selling out our country.

Maybe.

...As far as the government goes, if they decide not to get rid of these illegals, or if the dipshits in Washington give them blanket amnesty, then my citizenship means nothing. My service to America means nothing. Federal laws mean nothing. Can I pick and choose which laws to obey? Or do I have to be Hispanic and illegal to get favors?

The illegals of all nationalities need to go, I don't give a fuck where they snuck in...Haiti, Cubans, Chinese, Germans, wherever.

Some of these illegals are laughing that "old white America is scared" about the browning of America (reverse racism in action, folks). Their next demonstration is on May 1st. Jeezus F-N Christ, I wonder...I just can't figure out why they chose May 1st, can you?

DUH!!!

I gotta say as a Canadian, (we're used to the lax security up here) I'm somewhat surprised at the attitude that the U.S. is taking with regard to illegal aliens...and make no mistake, that's what they are. The protests are doubly interesting, we deserve citizenship, we DEMAND citizenship...maybe I would care if you didn't break the law on day one in the U.S. by entering illegally. Now I see that it's also happening along our border with the U.S. as well, can't say I'm surprised.

My opinion, you have every right to defend your border, just like Vicente Fox does with Mexico's southern border.

I hit the "Both of the Above" button. I think the illegal alien situation is preposterous. Does anyone remember in California, not too long ago, when they were fighting for the right to have driver's licenses? Get rid of them [V] Their very presence is a mockery of law. To be so brazen as to then demand the right to be here is simply dumbfounding. Come here legally, then we can talk [:(!]

I say build a big freaking wall and post armed guards along it.

It pisses me off that when I apply for a job, I'll have a better chance of getting said job if I'm bilingual.

It pisses me off that my kids went for 3 years with no health insurance, but every damn Mexican kid I knew had Medicaid--and guess whose taxes helped pay for that?!

It pisses me off everytime I fill out a form and the reverse side is printed in Spanish.

And it really, really makes me want to floor my car and plow through the rallies these damn people keep having, especially when I see them waving the f*cking Mexican flag. WTF?!

This is a great country, no matter who's "running it". I am a Canadian citizen and have been living here since 1983. why I have not become a U.S. Citizen is simply academic ---I pay my taxes, but have not felt truly 'American' until 9/11... I would like to vote, so I am becoming a citizen this year. I don't subscribe to either party's 'line'. but I say protect this country and it's values (not the right or left wings 'values').....to be perfectly frank, I will vote for a canditate who stands up for America, no matter whom.

It is incredible that besides the fact that these illegals are taking over and demanding citizenship, how can our borders be so vulnerable after 9/11?
We have a president that preaches about the "war on terror". That is a joke without any real border security.
The illegal immigrants are killing our communities, overcrowding hospitals and draining our schools. English has to be declared the official language of this country.
How dare anyone say that these people do the jobs we don't want to do? If we give these people amnesty, they will be taking away any job that has not been outsourced. How happy big business must be right now. They must be salivating on all the money they can save by paying people less then a living wage. This country is headed for disaster if we are not there already.
Congress allotted monies for more border patrol but has never delivered. It doesn't make any sense to me to even talk about what to do with these people until all borders of our country are secure.

You're absolutely right on all counts. We may as well just steal the name "New Mexico" and just rename the entire country that since caucasians are projected to become a minority somewhere around 2050 anyway.

I put the over/under on when America officially becomes a third world country at 2075. I feel sorry for those of you with children. The heirs of the select few that actually benefit from this shit will take their money and move to a real "great" country like Norway; leaving everyone else to wallow in the world's biggest ghetto. Then again, we reap what we sow. Keep on voting Republican, people [xx(]. At least you'll be "safe" from gays and abortion.

Nobody mentions the fact that most of these Mexicans are of Native American origins....You've taken this land from the indigenous people before and I'm sure you can do it again..just read history and find out how they did it and "wella!" you've got the solution.
