And so you know, the last picture was taken from the balcony at my office!

LOL! I am only making general comments about my own experience.
So what do you think of the view from my office? Pretty sweet! Thats what I look at every day. I see the sun rise over the beach every day. This sure beats my old job with no windows.

I'm in by 6:30 and I hit the road around 9 or 9:30. In the summer its great. Sometimes they have concerts right outside my building and we don't worry about the crowd, we have the best seats. And when its hot and the beach is crowded, all the guys are hanging out looking at all the girls. Its a great perk. When you want air, bam, you are on the beach. Its a great view.

Yes, everyone can take pictures, taking pictures is not hard... making great images that say something... images that stand the test of time is what is difficult. That could be a mixture of luck, talent, timing, etc...

I've heard "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity" -- Without the knowledge (preparation) or the opportunity to be in the right place at the right time, most photos are just snapshots, or as us photographers call them "non-photos" because they don't really say anything, except "yes, there is that thing"

Keep shooting Philly (keep your day job though)

Photojournalism is extremely difficult -- it happens, for the most part, "on the fly" and the only preparation is the level of skill of the photographer, so it's no accident that the shot was well composed (framed in camera), exposed properly, etc, but all those rules can be broken as well. Good photography is hard... unfortunately in my business, more and more often, "good" is good enough.

edited for spelling
