Yes, it’s that time again! Things that generally piss me off or just don’t like.
1. Deceptive advertising:
Any car ad you’re watching on TV, they show you the image of the car in action and then tell you how much the car is and in fine print you discover that what you have been looking at is the “Ultra Deluxe Sport Bling Bling Touring Edition” and is $7000.00 more than the price they have on the screen.
Fast food commercials where it takes 2 hands to hold a burger that is actually the size of a take out coffee lid. C’mon….a 3 year old can hold a single burger with one hand. How come an adult has to use 2 hands to hold the same burger? A popular “wrap” looks like it’s a half a foot long but is actually a tad over 4 inches. They always hide the back half of the wrap in their hand so it looks a lot longer than it actually is.
“Official” looking letters. You know, the ones that are in a brown envelope with important information enclosed. I got one last week that said “Forms and Records Division” and “Economic Stimulus Information enclosed”. I thought that the government wanted back the money I already disposed of when in fact, it was from a local car dealership wanting me to use the money to buy a car.
We get these post cards in the mail that say that the warranty on my car is about to expire and I need to call this 1 800 number to get the coverage back. Now I can see an older couple starting to freak out and actually call the number to get this new coverage when in fact they don’t need it at all. It’s a scam to get you to by into their cheap ass ineffective scheme. My son got one and his car is in my name but yet it said that his car warranty is about to expire according to their records. I called them up and wanted to know what record they have that lists my son as a car owner. They refused to answer saying that it’s a confidential file. Bullshit. It’s a marketing scheme that ought to be outlawed along with:
Lawyers who go through Workmans Comp. public records wanting you to have them represent you in a case against your employer. I got injured 4 years ago (very minor) and I’m still getting letters from lawyers and now doctors who want to treat my back. I’m ok and I don’t need a doctor from Missouri to look at my back since I live in Ohio. I have a doctor thank you very much.
2. Inconsiderate assholes:
People who insist upon talking on a cell phone while driving. I know this has been beat to death but when I miss a green light because some yahoo in front of me isn’t paying attention to what they are doing because they’re talking to some other yahoo on the phone, I tend to get a bit cranky. Hey, I’m old.
People who park in fire lanes…”I’m just going in for some milk”. I don’t care what your excuse is. If there’s a fire and somebody dies due to the fact that you were parked in a fire lane then you should be brought up on manslaughter charges.
People who drive / park the wrong way up or down a lane. Can’t you see the arrow painted bright yellow on the road? Do you understand what that means?
Old women with shopping carts that ram them into the back of your heels when you are standing in line. That really hurts and thank God you’re an old woman because if you weren’t, I’d cave your face in.
Old women who can’t smell anymore. One spritz from your 55 gallon drum of cheap perfume is more than enough. If I can smell you 5 feet away then you are wearing way too much. If I can smell you 2 aisles away in a grocery store then you need to go home and take a bath.
3. Olives
Yes, I said olives. Nasty little green things….sometimes black. Not fit for human consumption.
