Name the things you love the most and make you proud of the place you live in.

I live in Brooklyn NY and absolutely LOVE it. I am very proud of my town. NY has the best of everything and is very unique. We were multi cultural before it was cool. We have representatives of every nation, race and religion in the world and we manage to get along because of what we share in common....we are New Yorkers. We don't take any crap...but we take care of our own. THE FOOD! I can eat Jewish, middle eastern, italian, indian, chinese, .....any kind of food on the planet.
The Yankees! The Mets! The museums! The fairs! The Feasts! The people!
I love the diversity of NY.

I'm going to have to say the wildlife

I grew up in NYC, but I live now in Rockland County, NY, just to the northwest along the border with NJ. I can't say I *love* much about it up here - even after 6 years here - but I love that it's *not* NJ, yet I'm so close (less than 1 mile) that I can get super cheap Jersey gas where self-serve is illegal. Last time I filled up it was only about $3.29 for full-serve. Pretty sad reason to love where you live.

Guess I should say something like the abundant parkland or the relative safety for my kids, huh?

Proximity. Everything I want is within a 15 minute drive, and often walking distance. A safe and tranquil yet lively city filled with friendly people, exciting places/events and picturesque scenery. It's almost like living in the countryside without the inconveniences (or living in a metropolis without the pollution, corruption, etc.) Put simply, a perfect place to live.

Totally under the radar and we own our own power plant making our electricity cheap. As a matter of fact, my city just dropped the rates to help us pay for the natural gas increase.

I live in Rancho Santa Margarita in The O.C. (Cahleeforneeah). Second to living near the beach where everything rusts, I'm nestled at the base of Saddleback Peak on the eastern border of the county, where I have access to hiking trails and parks not to mention a spectacular view that keeps me from getting homesick for my Colorado and New Mexico days. It's a nice break from living in the sprawling mega-grid of the L.A. basin just over the hill. Minuses might include knowing that the now thankfully has-been "Housewives of Orange County" are a stone's throw away in the gated community of Coto de Caza.[xx(] Maybe I should throw more stones![:D]

I have a love/hate relationship with Las Vegas. I love the energy and I love the live-and-let-live attitude here. No matter how weird you are, there's someone else who is even weirder--and no one cares. I love being able to hike and climb on Mt. Charleston, at Red Rock and at the Valley of Fire. I love the bright lights. We've got fabulous dining and shopping opportunities. Except for the three months when it's 500 degrees in the shade, the weather is amazing. I can drive four hours and be on the beach, or drive an hour and ski in the winter, or drive a few hours in another direction and play in the Grand Canyon.

But there are so many bad things about this city that darn near erase all the good things.

I live on Long Island....I love the fact that I can drive either North or South and hit a beach if I so choose....also love that I'm only an hour train ride from Manhattan! And most of all, we were the home of NW music: 'LIR!!!

Albuquerque--actually, all of New Mexico--has the best chiles and amazing food. Spicy, hot, & zippy. When you eat out, the server will ask you "red or green?" That's actually our "state question", lol. For the longest time, we had the distinction of having the highest number of restaurants Per Capita in the whole U.S. I am not sure if that is the case anymore--but we have a low population and a TON of great restaraunts. I LOVE all the gustatory variety here.
After the food stuff, my other FAVORITE thing here is the weather. It's always sunny with incredibly clear blue skies with endless horizons. On avergae, we have very little rainful & clouds.
I also LOVE the fantastic scenery/ geography here...mountains, mesas, forests, desert....so gorgeous.
The people here are also very friendly, very smiley and generally happy and mellow.
