Fine one to talk about intolerance.

It really disturbs me that the word "christian" has now been appropriated by intolerant, frightened nazi's masquerading as believer's in the religion of christianity.

It bothers me that they have tarnished the word "christian." It bothers me that if I were to now say "I am a christian," I would have to qualify that statement with "but not one of those "christians."

Call it what you want, but your words speak of hate, not christian values.

How many untold millions have suffered and died in millenia past in the name of "Spreading the word". In the case of Christianity it's particularly tragic. After all, I believe Jesus said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you" (Matthew 28:19). I don't remember reading any asterisk by this quote which said, "And if those of other lands do not listen to you, then by all means enslave, torture, and kill them"
Great point like you said many were killed in the name of spreading the word. That is many pagans and athiests and cultists like Islam and Roman Catholics did the Pagan-Athiest-Cultic-Islamic-Rominist thing and murder and kill millions of evangelical bible Christians because they were peacefully preaching the word and doing the work of the church.

Thanks NuWaveRx for making such a great point.

What you say is true. The point I was trying to make is that given the teachings of Christ it is appalling that so much violence and terror has been spread in "His" name. That's why it's so tragic. After the suffering the early Christian church endured, you think Post-Constantine Christianity would have learned from it. Apparently they didn't.

Just because you feel like something or another doesn't make it so. for a college grad you have a very poor epistomology. In Christianity there are objective standards that are outside of each and everyone of us and that these standards are out of our control that define who is a Christian and who isn't. If gay person gets saved that gay person is no longer gay!

2 Cor 5:17 (NIV)
17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

A gay person may feel they are a christian and say it is so, but that doesn't make it so. They can come up with some vain homosexual philosophy and call it christian but that doesn't make make it Christian! I though I am Mexican/Spannish cannot claim that I am Korean because I feel like I am Korean. KYYX at this point your reasoning is silly, not to offend. There are certian objective realities that define who we are. Feelings are not a good test of truth granted feeling are all the aithiest have. A more mature person doesn't rely on feelings but on cold hard objective facts.

I think - I THINK - that the main problem people have with the theory of evolution is speciation and branching off. How does it go from one species into a totally different one? That sort of thing.

I don't think that people understand the monsterous range of time involved, and how slowly it may happen. There's a long line of species between Microraptor and the sparrow in your backyard. Think of how long it took to get there. It's not really something we can see, or will ever really see in our lives.

How do you explain the concept of 165 or 65 million years? How do you envision that in a way that is easy for people to understand? The fossil record is spotty in so many places & it would appear to most people that things "just happen" and then turn into this.

I think people are used to hard evidence, & they want it "right now." Something happening on a genetic level isn't tangible for people.

Can I take this to mean that since god is not a "cold hard objective fact", but instead just an embodiment of faith, that believers are therefore not mature? because god is DEFINATELY not a cold hard fact! Please !
The first person I’ll respond to will be Egg-Roger. Bible believing reformed Christianity is not about being self-righteous as you claim, but just the opposite. In Christianity you deny you own righteousness because it is filthy rags (Is. 64:6) and believe me if I were to go to God with my own righteousness I would go to hell quicker than you. True bible believing reformed Christianity is receiving someone else’s righteousness i.e. the righteousness of Jesus Christ’s given to the believer’s account by the simple act of trusting in Jesus and NOT by works. Now Egg-Roger I will turn the tables on you. You are a Mormon right? And Mormonism teaches that your works and righteousness determine your status of just or unjust before God. Since you are a Mormon you have pledge an oath or better yet covenanted with a religion that requires you to stand on your own righteousness before God! So then who is the self-righteous one?

Brock just because I don’t answer everyone does not mean it is a loss. There are some people who just don’t listen and don’t care about the truth remember unbelievers suppress the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18). With this in mind you have to have discretion on whom you should answer (Proverbs 26:4-5).

Sincerely,
QL
What exactly in your opinion happened to all the souls that died before Christ was even born. There was life BC you know. No offense to Jesus, I believe he was a great man. But the thing religion has turned into is what I don't like.

Awsome question! The souls of those who passed away who died trusting the promise to come (eventualy revealed as Christ) where placed in Abraham's Side (bosom) in the favorable presence of the Lord in peace awaiting the fulfillment of resurection. The wicked in a prison house for souls awaiting to be raised for everlasting discruction. If you look at B.C. or Old Testament days think of that time as a time of Promise and the New Testament times as a time of Fullfilment and deliverence.

BTW thanks for using BC or AD it acknowledges the reality of Christ. The liberals and Jehovah's Witnesses and others who hate Christ use B.C.E. and C.E. It's god you keep some account of the reallity of Jesus in your thinking.

Again that is a false presuppostion that you start with. A presupposition that is impossible for you to justify and verify.

Quite Life, please do some research before you spew. I know for a fact that Jehovah's Witnesses do not hate Christ. Where would you get such an idea? From biased readings?

Also, liberals "and others", like myself, do not hate christ either...I personally do not feel anything towards him or about him. He was just a dude who seemed pretty cool until some other dudes, to use phillyidol's words, "opened a can of whoop ass" on him.

Since JW's do not acknowladge the biblical doctrine of the Diety of Christ nor do they beleive in Justification by Faith Alone but instead burdon thier people with vain and harsh legalism to try to save themselves and establish thier own righteousness instead of recieving the imputed righteousness of Christ by faith alone and that unbelievers demonstrate thier unrighteousness by going into or becomming one of Jehovah's Witnesess as one of many avenues to rebel against a true and holy God proves that JW's hate God.

To prove this let's go to the bible turn to Romans 1:18-32

(ESV)
18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

24Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

26For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Though they know God's decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

I will make an annotation in Verse 22-23
"22Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles."

When the whicked rejects God he has to replace Him with something so he invents some avenue of idolotry so he can replace the biblical God with his own invention. Hence JW's is a religion of Idolotry.

That was abou the most ridiculous line of reasoning I've ever heard. I'd laugh but I truly feel sorry for you. You are so misguided in you religious ideaologies that YOU are blind to obvious truths. I see no reason to continue this discussion with you as you are about the most hard headed person I've had the displeasure of being spoken at!

Good grief!
I thought as much.
Tolerance, schmolerance....if a person believes, then they believe. There is nothing "objective" about belief, and no church can claim that there is. Therefore, I would say your argument is just as silly as mine (as you say), b/c belief is subjective. Your god is subjective. He/she/it can't be proven. That's why it's called "faith."
Never mind--husband came home with dinner. Mavs are up by 55-51. The Mavs have faith that they're gonna win !

Yes you do Hate Jesus don't decieve me or yourself. If you loved Jesus, that would be an indication the Jesus loved you first and chose you before the foundation of the world before you did anything good or evil. You would be saved! Instead you propogate an evil philosophy that tears down and distroys the dignity of man and the glory of God. You are self-centered and you put yourself in the place of God. If you where saved you would be a Christ-Centered person.

Even though whicked dudes "opened a can of whoop ass" on Jesus and this was the greatist evil commited my sinful man. This act was of total benifiet to man as Christ's death saves His people with out this "can of whoop ass" on Jesus all would go to hell! Because no one can stand before a Holy God! and Christ's death and bodily resurection make way for us who have been given the gift of beleiving to stand before God.

The Problem with you KYYX is that you are way too proud, too cool to admit your a sinner and that you need someone else beside you to deal with your sin and guilt. Now that is evil!
