I think all land is expensive and I'm looking for a place outside the USA where I can live in FN peace. I know the USA is unpopular but does that mean individual Americans are hated?

The main ones we got from Spain are Camilo Sesto (brilliant BRILLIANT singer), Jose Luis Perales (another great singer-songwriter; beautiful music), Miguel Bose (he's got some good hit songs), Miguel Gallardo (sad to hear he passed away[:(] ), and Rocio Durcal, as well as some Pop and Rock such as Mecano, Radio Futura, and Duncan Dhu. They pretty much rivaled what was coming from Mexico in the same genres. Good music all around (forgot to mention Julio Iglesias, but I don't really like his music).

<p align="justify">I kid, I kid. A lot of the time we're warm and friendly with everyone almost to a fault, but at the same time the crime rate is high in a lot of those places. Poverty and unemployment are rampant, and, if you think the US govt. is very corrupt and inefficient, then you'll be shocked when you see how much worse it can get in Latin America. In that sense you'll have to watch out (this goes for anyone, including the locals, not just people from the US). Cost of living with American wages is ridiculously cheep, though. I'm actually considering retiring to Costa Rica or Chile.

Of course, everybody in Argentina hates the US. [:p] Kidding!!!
Now really, there's some resentment towards your country (mostly towards your presidents, not towards the people) in some social sections. But americans are welcomed well in our country and we are all about "tu casa es mi casa".
And buying lands in argentina is not very expensive and there's some beautiful landscapes. I would recommend buying lands in Patagonia, which is very quiet and prepared for foreign people. Then, Buenos Aires is also convenient as there are some very quiet areas (like the one in which i live in) and it's near our capital city... also called Buenos Aires.
The medical system is excellent. The problem here is that not everybody can access it.
Argentina is a whole different reality if you compare it to Venezuela.

OP: yesterday's episode of CQC was awesome. they managed to get an interview with fidel castro and also with hugo chavez (who made some kickass jokes about fidel castro[;)]).

And, then there's always this and they are spanish!!!

Well, I'm not sure whether you're kidding or not... did those guys receive airplay in the US (apart from J. Iglesias which I guess he's more or less know there)?? I know some of them were quite famous in South America, but I could have never imagined someone from the US would remember the non-new wave singers.
I've never liked C. Sesto, J.L. Perales, Miguel Gallardo (I don't even know who he was), R. Durcal (who passed away few months ago) and J.Iglesias... they're a bit too old for me, and not my stile, but M. Bosé, Mecano, Radio Futura and Duncan Dhu had all nice songs and many hits here. There were many good NW bands from Spain in the early 80's... it's a pity nowadays music is not as good as it used to be [V]

I've just watched the interview in http://www.cqc.tv/, it's so funny, the reporter running all over the place and everyone after him... that Gonza is so fresh [}:)]! And I've also watched the clip "Clemente in the US embassy", he's also brilliant!! [:D]

Tomorrow there's a special CQC program here with the best moments of the season: a visit to Brazil's Carnival, some pissing politicians off, a crazy "Proteste ya", maybe some QKS... and for sure, two of the guys behind the table "getting married" (they did it live last week and I couldnt stop laughing, they even kissed in the mouth... well, if you watch the images on the internet you'll probably won't laugh, but for people who follow the episodes here it's really funny because each of them has like a personality that has developed thoughout the season, and now it feels as if you knew them [:D]

We have many radio stations that cater to Spanish-speaking people and they have been known to outdo English-language stations by a landslide in listenership here in Southern California. I lived in Latin America during the 80s, so all those artists were on heavy rotation on the radio and on television[8D] Camilo Sesto and Jose Luis Perales totally pwn. They're the Spanish version of famous singers like Jose Jose and Emmanuel. They are the best that Spanish music can offer because there is so little that sounds like it in English. I think maybe Italian music has similar artists, but I haven't explored that route yet. There was something funny I noticed about Amanda Miguel's singing and performance style. I thought it was fairly unique until I heard and saw the music video for "Wuthering Heights" by Kate Bush[:D] I suppose there are [i]some[/i] English equivalents to that kind of music. Btw, I think Amanda Miguel was a back-up singer for Diego Verdaguer (who had a couple of hits in the Americas as well). I still remember hearing "Volvere" way back[:)]

Among our reporters, I think the cutest one is that guy called Christian, but for me he's not as funny as Gonzo (the reporter in our Proteste Ya) or Arturo and Juanra (the 2 guys that "got married"). If you watch any of the clips in the CQC web site archive, choose theirs in the news section.

It's funny that you say you'd date Gonzalo and Clemente, many girls here just feel the same towards our reporters... my sister loves Arturo... [:D]
