Hell, Hexicon, all that "my pee don't stink" talk that Mare was throwing out was cracking me up. I miss that ridiculous shit. I'm sorry more folks didn't appreciate the absurdity of it and take it for entertainment, regardless of how Mare intended it to be taken. The brow beating potentially deprived all of us from some more off the wall silliness. Intended or not, that shit was funny, and Mare's very seriously intended insults was the icing on the cake. Oh well.

And I'm sorry that you don't have much use for our younger members. They ain't perfect, but neither are the rest of us. I take them for what they're worth instead of writing them off. That "drunken/drugged" teenager has pointed me onto some new wave and Italo bands that I missed the first go-round, so forgive me for seeing merit in his contributions here, no matter how random quite a bit of his posts have been in the past.

Run that by me one more time Hutter...her seriously intended insults were funny, so everyone should have backed off so she could continue to perform her best woman on the planet routine? What a load of shit...one persons insults are entertaining, yet my perceived to be insulting posts are to be villified by you and others who are above it all?

There's the problem with this board in a nutshell...if the axeman is your buddy, it's funny, if they're not, it's bullying.

It's funnier, at least to me, to see someone hang themselves with their own rope. Speeding up her hanging by handing her a rope and throwing it over the tree branch just took sooooo much fun out of it. Imaging what it could have been. Or maybe (just maybe) with time and thought she may have (lets pretend)come around to how silly her claims and behavior was. Or maybe I just prefer viewing my train wrecks in slow motion instead of fast forward. Sue me for seeing the possibilities.

And who's my buddy, eight6? If anyone here can be considered that, the numero uno one is the very same one you've defended as well. So where does that leave things?

General terms Hutter, no specifics. As soon as there is conflict that crosses NWO clique lines, the bully tag is an inevitablility.

I'm in complete agreement with Hutter on this and appreciate his willingness to write what he did, knowing it would be open to criticism. I've had my differences with Hutter, but, oddly enough, I feel like his open-mindedness towards music and pop culture in general are pretty strongly aligned with my own.

I'm one of the folks that has contributed to the deteriation of the good spirit this board used to have and for that I apologize. I'm not backing down from the principles and beliefs that led me to take the positions that I did, but I do apologize for making things so personal. Except for anything I wrote to Jimbo, of course.

I hope the holidays are good to you folks.

PS - "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses will always be the most New Wave Xmas song, regardless of how that game turned out.

Im confused because I missed out on so much going on here.
Deja vu is right. But I remember it was me at the end of all the attacks. That was a long time ago. I used to take things to heart here and as some will tell you, I came very close to hunting someone down in a fit of rage. Thats not for me. I totally enjoy myself now and I do get the humor and sarcasm. I love that part.
Eight/6 is just like me in that when attacked, he goes for the throat. If people are going to attack they should expect that reaction. So don't attack Or expect him to respond. And we all have the right to respond...eight/6 does with the truth and people can't handle that.
I felt like a victim because people told me to lay off even when I was being attacked. I think it is so true that at a certain point, people should take it off the boards because your killing the threads. The jabs happen all the time but you notice 8/6 the most because he doesnt hide it he comes out swinging. I love it, its me. But we should all be fair and see who is really a victim here. And I think the mods do a great job and are totally neutral here. Trust me, If I was going to post the crap I have on half of you, they would tell me to cool it too.

With all that said....Giant Moose EVERYBODY! [:D]

And Marv is Marvelous (and a good dresser)

We shouldn't even have mods. Maybe one or two people to delete the occasional spammer but it seems to me that having mods only makes things worse. It just gives every immature dipshit with a persecution complex another excuse to whine "Waaaaaaah - so and so is biased" or issue meaningless challenges like "delete me". And I don't mean any mod personally, just the idea of mods. It's not the fault of the mods either. This latest episode is a prime example.

Too many people spend far too much time on this site trying to protect people who do not deserve and in some cases even need protecting. All it does is make this place a playground for idiots. Take your heroic interventions and your god complex bullshit elsewhere. If anything said here can have even the slightest effect on someone personally, they need to log the fuck off and seek professional help.

Hutter, are we really worse off without M_idol? Without Toe Jam? I see both departures as textbook examples of addition by subtraction. And did they really leave because of anything that went on here? I know Mare did but both Toe-Jam and UR gave other reasons for their departure and neither seemed like a shrinking violet. And the kids? They were made to feel unwelcome? How much of that is in their own minds? Because I know a lot of people like them and have been nothing but civil to them (myself included) and it kind of sucks if they feel that way. We've all had to endure a few battles when starting out. I did, you did, Philly did, many others have. Some of us are better for it and others worse but the fact remains - just as some exercise the right to be a mouth-breathing moron, others of us should have the right to call them on it.

I can't believe we even need to have this kind of discussion. It's beyond sad but true that this board is nothing more than a microcosm of the society we live in. A place where stupidity is not only accepted, but in certain cases rewarded. A place where the gutless and weak are coddled and protected so much that they no longer can stand on their own (if they ever could to begin with). A place where the gutless and weak are celebrated and the strong are told they should feel ashamed or guilty. And that sucks.

Those who have used the word "decline" are 100% correct. [xx(][V]

I can only guess why UR stopped posting here (she has stated that she was getting tired of the High school drama, but beyond that I have only guesses), but Toe Jam had enough of the overall bad vibes. And it's not so much that folks stop posting here, or who stops posting here, as much as why they stop posting here. This board is a diversion, a temporary refuge for us to geek out about music. When that refuge takes on the appearance of a day care center, it stops being a refuge and becomes another link that gets deleted from the favorites list. Don't get me wrong...you know the last thing I condone is mindless kumbaya bullshit, but I'm afraid that things here have went beyond playful shit-kicking to hostile chest thumping. The shit is getting old, and for a lot of folks who used to post here and many who would have posted here if it wasn't such a hostile environment, it's past the "getting old" stage and into the category of "if these are your typical new wave fans, then I'm gonna switch to country. These folks are assholes."

Motors, you know this isn't directed at you, or really any one person here. I think on some level many of us have been guilty of some boorish behavior here. Hell, sometimes it may be whats called for (especially when dealing with trolls) but is this how we want this site to be? One flame war after another?

Oh yeah ... I know that wasn't directed at me. I've been a friggin' lamb lately.

We'll just always disagree on this subject then because I don't see it as having an OVERALL hostile vibe at all. I've never had any hostility directed at me and I think the vast majority of the posters here would say the same. Maybe some occasional mild negativity, but in a lot of cases it's well-deserved. Whatever. You reap what you sow, right? The assholes get blasted, the others have a choice not to read the threads where it happens. I think it IS about who stops posting here because if someone leaves for the reasons you're claiming they do, that just means that we have yet to lose a single person worthy of respect.

Anyway, no big deal. It's certainly not worthy of monthly "State of the NWO" addresses.

What's up with the lamb-like attitude lately motors? Has the spirit of the season mellowed you?[;)]

You know, I think both Hutter and Motors have great points. Honestly I'm not so aware of heroic interventions, cliques or coddling. Maybe I'm not paying attention or maybe I'm guilty of it too. Who knows. I take the site for what it is - a community that's usually fun - even when it gets toxic there's still some voyeuristic element that's engaging.

I simply wish people would take responsibility for their posts and whatever online persona they're playing. For the most part I think we do. For others who feel the need to dictate our tastes or emotions or what we should believe - then they're ripe for a smack down (gentle wave anyone?) Go ahead, take all your toys & leave.

I also don't really care about those who make a big deal about leaving. If you're in a huff, move on, be a grown-up and get over it. There's usually a reason that you've invited some hostility.

I'm much more sad about the people who just slipped away & no longer post - whether it was because they felt the environment was too toxic, or were just bored with the endless drama. I think we've lost a few good personalities this way & I wish they'd come back. Of course maybe they just left because they found something better to do with their time.

Honestly, I invest a lot of time here. It's a great diversion & the site has come to mean a lot to me. I really enjoy the community. Yes, it is "just an internet site," but I think many of us feel it's more than that. If we didn't then we wouldn't see threads like this and people investing some emotion into it - whether it's postive or negative.

And yeah - I'm aware that I'm doing the kumbaya thing.

LOL! Nah, it's something else entirely but I don't want to get too into it for fear of jinxing it or giving those who would be less than happy for me any ammunition.

Believe me, the season still annoys the crap out of me but it seems that people this year are being a little more subdued about it or something. Both on NWO and in real life [8D]. Maybe it's the Spring-like weather?

Not to belabor this topic, but now that most people have had their say we should wrap it up.

As far as the mods go, Motors makes an excellent point. I see the logic in having multiple mods from MikeP's perspective, but many mods equal many interpretations of online events. As Marv as been the most active in his role, undue attention falls on him for the decisions he makes. Like my friend Salsynth is so fond of saying "If you can do a better job, shut up and do it". I echo those sentiments. I wouldn't do it, it's a thankless position. Salsynth's position seemed popular when we were debating the Almacantar thing, so it should be popular when applied here.

People come and go here all the time. I'm sure my posting style has had some influence in a few peoples decisions, but not many. The message seems to be that I can't be me so others don't feel threatened by being themselves when they post garbage. Somebody will need to explain that one, as I have an obvious mental deficiency when comprehending this point.

Phil's analysis of me is quite accurate...I will question what I view to be pointless or stupid posts. If the response indicates hostility, I'll return it in kind; if the response has some merit, I'll ask more questions. That's just my way. If people can tolerate the reams of garbage posted here, surely you can tolerate the less than enthusiastic response to that garbage by me. Thanks to Hex for recognizing that fact.

Lastly, while my popularity here makes me envious of Bush's popularity numbers, the threads I'm involved in do seem to be among the most read/viewed here. Not that that means a damn thing other than somebody is looking, reading and in many cases responding. Isn't that in large part what this board is about...the exchange of ideas, concepts and of course, music? The delivery of that exchange may not be ideal but there is plenty of exchange.

Now if you'll excuse me, my daughter wants me to drink the hot chocolate she has made for me.

Best wishes for the Holidays to everybody here.
