It looks like we all agree on this thing and on Al Sharpton. (yes that was him with Tawanna) But the scary thing is that alot of "urban people" listen to anything that he says against white people and hear it as truth. I lived through that Tawanna thing and it was not pretty. I was told when the riots start, I would be allowed to live cause I was cool but the rest of the whites must die.

Oh I almost forgot! The famous quote Tawanna made to the media when asked if she is being manipulated. " Nobody MANIPSMAPES me and my family". Manips-mapes?!!!!

Just wondering how Sharpton has anything worthwhile to add to this situation. Did I not hear Sharpton explain how it's impossible to get black youth to refer to themselves in less derogatory terms when things like this happen? Seems a convenient way to shift responsibility.

What about the coach? She's taking every opportunity on this planet to get her face on TV. She's taking the Imus comment and using it to benefit herself. How much cash is she going to get per speaking arrangement now? She's just as bad as Imus and Sharpton combined.

I was so tired of this whole thing by day 2....give it a rest. Imus is and will always be an ass, same with Sharpton and now the coach.

I do feel for the girls. They didn't deserve to be insulted like that but do you see them all up in arms all over the tube? No you don't. I'll be willing to bet that they would say he's an ass but look at what we did! How come no ones talking about our accomplishments? We deserve more coverage about what we did than Imus / Sharpton team!

In a perfect world, I would like to think there would never be any kind of disparaging words against any religion, race, or sex. However, we are not in that perfect world. Still makes it wrong. I saw the girls on tv yesterday and they are a very accomplished, eloquent group who stated their feelings about Imus in such a way that lent them dignity and will hopefully make Imus feel like the putz he really is. I was proud of them for keeping their cool and speaking so well.

I personally can't deal with Imus for more than a minute, if that. That said, he IS a shock jock and this is what they do. I'm not condoning it - I think it's pretty reprehensible what he said - but it's nothing more than a reflection of what low-brow humorists say every day both on the streets and in the media. It should be worth noting that many black people themselves say this sort of thing again, both on the streets and in the media.

There's even more hypocrisy going on here: what about white people bearing the brunt of just about every black comedian? Negative stereotyping is an ugly thing no matter who's victimized. Right now though, this is about the women's basketball team. In a perfect world, this would open the door to at least be addressed with a more widespread sociological approach but that's unlikely. There will always be racism, for thousands of generations to come. Imus is just the latest in a long line of fuck-ups: Mel Gibson, Kramer, etc.

Jesse Jackson has "explained" it all for me...today on local radio he espoused the view that Imus wasn't just rapping, he was using his 1000 + hour chunk of public ear (MSNBC) to promote a political view, whereas rappers are merely about entertainment. His point being rappers don't have the audience of an Imus to promote an agenda. Biggest load of shit I've heard in a while, and therein lies the problem: some get a pass for the same words others get crucified for.

When asked why it seemed Imus was being hung out to dry on this one, Jackson replied " Maybe those who have the most power should pay the biggest price" Luckily for rap music, it's artists, and the industry promoting it, it apparently wields no power, and thus escapes the wrath of the Rev.

When Jesse kicks some rapper ass for putting the words into the vernacular, maybe I'll be more inclined to listen to his protests.

After reading several message boards related to the incident...In typical fashion, most white Americans are focused on the double standard...For one I don't see any equivalence to being a called a nerdy white guy who can't dance to a nappy headed ho, but hey that's me, I know for damn sure I can't dance LOL![:D] Anyways Howard Stern has probably said worst, but people generally know Howard as a cool guy who can hang out with Snoop dog, so he's not perceived as a racist. So yes there are white people who can get away with this sorta thing.

I have a real close friend who is African-American and he finds much humor in this whole ordeal as he just shared with me. He remarked on what it would be like if the Duke Lacrosse players were black what kind of outcry there would have been from the likes of Sharpton and Jackson now that the charges are being dropped.

He also wondered aloud how many songs on the Rutgers players ipod have the n -word, bitch or ho in the lyrics.

My thought was- did the whole team need to speak at the press conference? And one of the questions was hilarious, Were you more offended as an African American or as a woman? (or something close to that)

Let the girls basketball team pelt Imus to death with basketballs in public, it's the only solution.....
