I have the same feeling for those who speak with their mouths full. Or worse, sputtering half masticated bits of food from their mouths while doing the aforementioned social disgrace. Thanks. Gonna go home, wash my clothes and take a shower now.

I really hate stupid parents. In Kinko's this afternoon, a lady's two kids were running wild. Instead of, oh, I don't know, MAKING THEM BEHAVE, she called her mom and then loudly proceeded to tell her that the kids were driving her nuts and giving her attitude and she just couldn't take it anymore.

Wow, lady. First, thank you for giving those who hate children more ammunition. Second, get a fucking grip.

And that leads me to pet peeve no. 2. -- loud talkers on cell phones or in person. You're are not that important. No one cares. Shut up.

*cranky today!*

I can't even tell you how much my head wants to explode when I see this...which is all too often and everywhere. Even my kids look at me and eachother with a 'WTF' look on their faces. I wanna say "Congrats lady, even a 9 yr old can single you out as a shitty parent."

The idiot who buys 3 shopping carts full of stuff, then when is given the total, asks what the prices for items #3, #7 and #12, haggling about those prices like it was some flea market.

THEN - proceeds to write a check - sorry organized gals for this next part - after sorting through every piece of crap in their purse looking for their wallet. After putting their wallet away, giving a sigh when asked for their ID.

Damn.

Stupidity and ignorance. The abject rejection of logic, reason and knowledge. These people should be spayed.

geez, your guys' peeves are much worse than my petty DVD wonderment.
No doubt about it, though: stupid people suck, and their manner of spreading their stupidity to make your day suck sucks, too. Like I wondered earlier, do they do it on purpose ? Are they really that stupid and self-centered? Or are they truly oblivious ? Argh!

I went to breakfast yesterday in a crowded restaurant with some friends. The lady at the table right next to me had two kids, probably about 4 years old. They kept climbing out of their seats and CRAWLING under the tables! I couldn't believe it. She just sat there and stared at the wall, waiting for her food to arrive. At one point, one of the boys started crawling under my leg and I put my hand firmly over the top of his head and pushed him back toward his table. The mother glared at me so I just gave her my warmest, sunniest smile and then turned my attention back to my friends.

Marv, for me this would be an example of your last post about "the abject rejection of logic, reason and knowledge": the pope recently suggesting in the latest encyclical that war and other inhumanities are the fault of atheists, and that only through the Catholic Church will we find peace and hope. I guessed he missed the history lessons about the Crusades, the Inquisition, various genocides... Blech. I guess it would be wrong (and impossible, unless he has some gender issues he's hiding) to spay a pope?

I don't think your peeve is petty at all though. The filthy dvd thing just says "I don't care who gets this after me, it's all about me and my comfort, attitude, need or laziness." Those types of people really piss me off - the ones with no consideration for anyone else but themselves. It especially bothers me when you call them on it & they act like YOU'RE the one who is self-centered.

The other thing that bothers me: then/than. Jeez, they're two different words with different meanings - learn it and stop writing "Than she went to the store and got pork rather then chicken."

shovs: Heh, I'd say he has a somewhat subjective point of view. But hey, what is morality if not subjective? It's hard sometimes to get through one's own point of view just to see other people's points of views. But I think it's more reasoned to pick a point of view after looking at a few. And after looking at those points of view there'd be no conflict because everybody would understand each other. Opinions are like ass-holes: everyone's got one so let's all just move on now. I probably don't make any sense.....

Marv, you made TOTAL sense. lol. I am fine with different points of view. Just yesterday I had a heated debate with a woman with whom I had a VASTLY different opinion. After we both got our words in edgewise she sat and sulked. I offered her a hand shake and said, "Thank you for the scintillating debate. I know we don't agree, but I respect the fact that you can defend your views so well and that you're not afraid to speak them." She was really shocked by the gesture. I guess the thing with the Pope bothered me because of how he suggested that the Catholic Church has offered nothing but pleasant pastures and happy happy joy joy for the last few thousand years (actually less, but I'm not a bean counter).

Ooooh, oooh, oooh, I just thought of another one:
People who you the word "like" 20 times in a paragraph. I once sat at a Starbucks and overheard two college students in conversation. I started checking off how many times they said "like" and I counted no less than 40 times in 2 minutes! I SHIT YOU NOT!!!!

Also, people who end sentences vaguely with "so....." or who speak statements with an uplilt in the end that suggests a question: "Today bought a new pair of sneakers?" You know what I mean, so..........
