so anyone let down by Indiana Jones for those who have seen it? It seemed less adventorous than the previous films, the mystique of the storyline seems to be missing too and I would have preferred if they shot the film in more exotic locations. I didnt expect Ford to do much in terms of action because of his age but the stuntwork was just way too slow for my taste.

Just got back from Indy 4 tonite. Hard to live up to the previous three and it doesn't. I still enjoyed it but left feeling it should have been a little better. I went to buy the tickets an hour and a half before the show. Went inside and did the self service purchase. On the way in I saw a $20 laying in the doorway, I looked around but no had went in before me so I scooped it up. So I got to see Indy for free due to some elses misfortune.

We did the same tonight. First of all, anything is better than Indy 2. If you go back and see Lawrence Kasdan's original script for Indy 1, Indy 2 is all the shit he threw out, thinking "Naw, that'd be total bullshit!"

Re Indy 4, I was expecting the worst after a friend ripped it...hard. But I thought it was a perfectly decent popcorn movie. You're right that it could and should have been better. I think all they had to do was not suspend the natural laws of physics so many times. Why or why do these fucking screenwriters and directors do this? I mean, can people really go over multiple waterfalls and survive, or not get hit by at least a little debris when there's gigatons of earth and rocks swirling inches from them, or get launched thousands of feet through the air inside of a fridge and somehow not end up a pulpy bag of dead meat? There's just no tension when you know you're going to see stupid-ass shit that just can't happen. I mean, I don't mind total made up shit like Jedi Mind Tricks or Faster-than-Light Travel or Belly-Dancing Green-Titted Aliens, but It's just fucking lazy writing when these idiots monkey with the everyday [i]expected[/i] laws of the universe. And it really pisses me off!

Saw it yesterday too. I didn't hate it as much as Mr. Hex did . . . what I didn't like was the cringe-inducing dialogue, almost as bad as Star Wars episode 2.

And the scene staged so Shia LeBoeuf enters looking like Marlon Brando? Puh-lease. He's no Brando (though in a few years he will be really happy about that).

All the Indys have always been camoy and over the top so you cant really complain about natural physics and logic. I did get a kick out of the Fridge of steel

We watched Indy 4 yesterday. It wasn't that bad--certainly not as good as the other three, but it wasn't terrible. It was campy and silly, but an OK way to waste a few hours.

We avoided Indy because everyone told us how it was lousy and reluctantly saw Iron Man, wow, that was awesome!

As soon as Indy junior started swinging through the jungle like Tarzan I gave up. We go into these kind of movies with a healthy suspension of disbelief, but come on. What the fuck. [:(!]

I remember seeing a documentary on the conception of Indiana Jones. He was cobbled together from various adventure type comic books from years ago. There was this one comic in particular (I should break out my Indy box set and look it up) that was pretty much the template for Indy, down to the hat and whip. Anyway, in the comic book he did all these crazy.....comic book things. So I can understand how this film was written as well as the others.

Personally, I enjoyed the heck out of it. But much of that was probably from seeing my son totally into it, literally on the edge of his seat. He was more into this than Speed Racer and Iron Man. But I also enjoyed picking up on George Lucas' love of fast cars, swashbuckling and fifties pop culture. Nice touches through out the film by paying homage to the Indy heritage of the last trio of films.

I know this isn't until next year but I have to share. It looks like it'll be outrageous:

Yes we need more movies about improbable relationships between whacky girls and men who can't commit until she leaves him near the end & he must rush through astounding situations to reach her before she flies off to feed hungry refugees in a Siberian Gulag, where they profess their undying love to one another while a classic Motown song plays over the end titles.

Matthew McConaghay & Kate Hudson must have something coming out...

I'll take the lost pet movie - preferably an irritable wolverine.
