Come on guys, this candidacy is exciting and will revitalize our country. Obama is asking us to roll up our shirtsleeves, get to work and lend a hand to help our country be great again. By this announcement above, he is already beginning to effect the change he has so fervently endorsed his entire campaign. IMO, he is an honorable man with integrity. He is not just talk, he walks the walk.

(sure, politics is screwed up. We can't do anything about the back-room deals and all the other rotten stuff. But, there is still a lot we can do to effect change and elect new leaders. I am optimistic to a fault, though. I love this process we go thru every 4 years. Oh, and McBush has no chance in Nov. )

I'm just curious: I understand why people are compelled to do, to write in someone because they don't like the Republican or Democratic nominee. I get that you're making a statement. BUT--your write-in person hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell of winning. So, doesn't it make sense to pick the lesser of two evils?

I'm not picking on you or bashing your choice. I'm genuinely curious what the reasoning is behind the choice. Is it because you're "making a statement" or is it some joke to you?

I don't think that's it for me. I joke around that I'm going to vote for Nader. Honestly, that's not going to happen.

Personally though I'm not going to vote for someone just because they're a democrat. My issue right now is that I was so caught up in Hillary & I have to reconcile my disappointment before I think about what I'll do in November. I don't think either voting for McCain or not voting at all is an option though.

It's not a joke, but "making a statement" might be going too far, because I don't necessarily vote for the same 3rd party every time.

I don't see how voting for the lesser of two evils does anything but propagate an evil. The Democrats and Republicans aren't going to change their ways, because they don't have to. They've shown it time and again. They know that millions of Americans feel that they have to choose someone with a chance of winning.

I realize I'm making a futile gesture. But maybe if enough people join me in looking for answers elsewhere, this country might actually move forward.

The only answer I can give you is that I would be happy to pick the lesser of two evils ... if I could decide which one's worse. Last time it was easy (I voted for Kerry) but this time I hate them both so equally and so intensely it's damned near impossible to pick one to go against. That and I actually like Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate.

Around here, there are lots of RON PAUL signs that have suddenly gone up on the streets. Big huge signs, too, like highway-overpass-viewable ones. What does this mean ? What statement is being made by not dropping out yet ?

Hey KYYX4ever - My friend from way back, who lives in Albuquerque, is a big Obama backer. He's signed on as the New Mexico rally coordinator or something. Until recently he was pretty apolitical, but Obama's really fired him up. He's also one of the people responsible for getting me into new wave. He used to be a DJ there (KPEK I think) until Clear Channel booted him unceremoniously a few years ago. If you run into a guy named Mike at the Obama rally say hi to him for me. [;)]
