Well here's the "festival" I had really wanted to attend - British Sea Power's weekend-long curation called "Sing Ye From the Hillsides" at the Tan Hill, England's highest pub:

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/cathaubergine/BRITISH%20SEA%20POWER%20TAN%20HILL%20INN%20AUGUST%202008/Sun03.jpg">

Good music choices at the link too!

I tried going but quickly realized it was England's bank holiday week, and everything was insanely expensive. Even frequent-flyer credits would have cost me 100,000 miles. Still, who knows how long I'll regret missing this intimate affair of only 200 attendees, including the Artic Monkey's and Klaxons, who were there as attendees rather than performers...such great taste they have! I read these bits only after seeing a photo that a friend sent me and thinking to myself that the dude on the left looks just like Alex Turner. For good reason I guess. Unreal. [V]

A postscript to all this. My wife has just had a medical emergency and will be in the hospital for a couple of days. She'll be fine eventually, and the festival is of no consequence compared to something like this of course. Still, I'm sure I'll shed a tear later at not being able to bring you news of what had promised to be an incredibly charming little event.

Yes, a speedy recovery for Mrs Blir is most important. My best wishes are sent your way!

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

I understand that lots of Patriots fans had medical emergencies this week.

I hope she feels better soon!

Heheh. Didn't take much to rub that veneer off, did it? Hey, who can get even the slightest bit bothered that an asshole smells like shit.

Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.’
— Jesus Christ, Mark 7:6

BTW, wifey was crushed that I missed the trip, knowing it was all I could talk about and plan for the past couple of weeks. She quipped that she's pissed that I'll have the guilt-trip drop on her for "making me" miss it. In my infinite compassion, I quipped back that there was no way I could go while she was lying in a hospital bed...and potentially give her the drop on me for years to come! [:o)]

Too bad it took so much to boot him. Others have been cast adrift for far less.

Sorry to hear about your wife Blir, hope she has a speedy recovery.
