Ribeye? Peter Luger's Steak House in Great Neck, NY. They have another location in Brooklyn. Great ribeye! Great sauce! Great food in general. Plus, the ambience and the service is excellent!
Next: Corned Beef (I'm of Irish heritage...I can't help but ask)

LOL, I've heard that said [;)] But isn't Luger's known for their porterhouse? And they do serve one righteous porterhouse if ever I had one. I had the ribeye at Smith & Wollensky which was OKAY. What a disappointment that place was. I went there only once and will most likely never go again. Best tacos? Probably Pancho Villas in Bayside. Anybody ever have a fish taco? I was having them specially made and delivered to me poolside in Puerto Vallarta one year. I had everybody around the pool eating them by the time we left [:D]

marv, you and I need to go out to eat sometime. I LOVE eating delicious and unusual food, especially in delicious and unusual locales, and the way you described your gustatory adventures arouses my senses ! Yum !
If you can eat amazing food in an amazing place, that REALLY makes the experience for me (altho I've had superb food at little holes-in-the-wall, too!). The ambiance, the noise, hearing other languages, the not-quite-knowing-what-exactly-was-on-the-menu, I love all that.
Having said that, best seafood I ever had was in Faro, Portugal. This is the southern Algarve coast (same place as that unsolved little missing British girl story ). You walk into the restaurant and there is a big display case in the entrance with the day's catch. You point to what you want and they take it out and go prepare it for you. Fresh off the dock ! I had the most amazing squid, and my husband had these enormous sardines ([i]nothing[/i] like the ones in a can !), and you could taste the ocean, it was so fresh. Oh, and the sangria came in a big jar with tons of peeled fruit slices in it, oh my gosh, delicious.
Sorry to have babbled...I love delicious food. Marv, you really got my mouth watering...

Well...I guess we wouldn't have the best frame of reference for the Mexican food though I can tell you, as we speak, that we are importing the best Mexican chefs into our region daily. It's only a matter of time.
