Ladbrokes has the existence of God at 4-1 Against. Really not bad odds. Thought it'd be much higher. I'd bet Against and if you lose, just hope it's a forgiving God. Better yet, you could also place a side bet that it's not a forgiving God. If it isn't, you win. If it is, you sorta win again. If there is no God, you win yet again because by definition a non-existent God isn't a forgiving God. It's a good hedge. Let's review... If there is no God, you win the first bet prima facia and also the second bet by default. If there is a God, you still win either way on your first bet and again win either way on your second bet.
I think if you believe in god by your reasoning (i.e., Pascal's Wager-- belief in case god exists), and there is a god, wouldn't he cast you eternally to hell just for gaming the system? Also, I think you would need to be careful which god you choose to kiss up to. I mean, how can you be sure that the christian god is the right one? There are so many others to choose from, even setting aside the major ones.

I wonder how Tantric Yoni worship would impact my rationale. I'd definitely be screwed one way or another.

Chuck knows everything, just ask him.

Some of these are from translation errors but most are just inconsistencies.

Before you get yer panties all twisted, I've read enough things and talked to enough people of the cloth to come to the realization that it all comes down to interpretation. You could poll everyone from a single church and get many different opinions about what they had just heard or read.

So when the story was translated from one language to another, I'm positive that poetic license was involved.

Basically, you can't convince me that it isn't just a story and I can't convince you that it is just a story to "keep the sheep in the flock".

WOW! If you could believe whoever it was that wrote all that why can't you believe in the Bible? He/She has just enough knowledge to be dangerous. But in reality doesn't really know the scriptures, just a distorted view of them. Even after a 1st quick scan I could ignore most of the so-called inconsistencies as baseless and ignorant.

The underlying problem is that most people have been turned off to the Bible because of religion. The people who are supposed to be teaching the truth are doing anything but. If you really were interested in finding the truth I'd say don't give up becasue of other people's idiocy.

If you don't want to believe that's fine too. I'm not here to judge anyone just defend my belief in God as you choose to mock him. I say, don't look down upon a book that has been misinterpreted. Look down upon those who have done the misinterpretation.

I guess you'll be among the people happy to see the U.N. attempting to force all member nations to adopt laws making it illegal to criticize religion under the guise of something called "The United Nations Anti-Blasphemy Resolution". As usual, the push for this attempt to corner free speech is being made by the Muslim block of member countries.

A faith (if there is such a thing) is not much if it can't withstand a little criticism, so it leads me to wonder why anyone would feel such action is necessary.

See, interpretation. You said that I choose to mock him. I wasn't aware that I was mocking anybody. That's your interpretation of what I said. See how easy that was?

Now, on the flip side of that, that (above) was my interpretation of what you said.

All I said was that the bible is a story and that story has been retold (interpreted) many thousands of ways by many thousand people.

I glad for you that you have your beliefs. If that helps you get through life then more power to you.

GO GOD! and Chuck Norris of course.
Actually in this case you would be wrong. For the most part, I could care less what the U.N. does or any government for that matter. The only time I am "concerned" is if a ruling is made that would infringe on my ability to practice my faith. It wouldn't stop me but I would prefer, as I think anyone else would, to be allowed certain freedoms as long as they don't infringe upon anyone else's.

Pretty insane.

Although I have to point out one glaring disjoint by Dobbs in this comment:

"So they're not democracies, and they're fascinated with their own precepts about what would constitute the way to run a nation, not like ours..."

Yeah, we've NEVER done that! Just goes to show the hypocrisy on all sides.
