As much as I love the man, Obama does come off as rather stiff when speaking at some engagements. It's hard to reconcile his soaring, inspirational oratory in front of an audience of millions (inauguration, Egypt & Berlin speeches) with his stuttering wonkiness in interviews.

But really, for those who'd defend Palin in this, imagine if Mitt Romney had notes scribbled on his hand before a Q & A session. Or even Obama. The masses would be screeching ! On the one hand (no pun intended), it's not THAT big of a deal. But on the other, THIS from a person who has presidential aspirations ? [i]Really[/i] ?

Thanks for getting the joke. What Obama has going for him is a "nice guy" appeal that overcomes a somewhat stilted approach. His attitude when dealing with adversaries reads like "Come on, man. Lighten up! I see your point but here's mine." which seems to infuriate extremist Republicans and Democrats alike, although I think mainstream America thinks it's fine or refreshing after 8 years of Bush who seemed to be in state of constant smirk .

Sarah Palin, on the other hand, even when she's not reading from a script it sounds like she is. Actually she reminds me a bit of Hilary Clinton in that respect. Both of them have that one-note speech pattern like the adults in a Charlie Brown cartoon. I suppose Palin's appeal is based on her being semi-attractive (not that she's had much competition to ward off among female politicos).

I agree with you that it's not that big of a deal. In the first video Sally posted, the President is clearly riffing off of a stack of notes that's he's leafing through. Palin also has a stack of notes in front of her so why she felt compelled to write on her own body is a mystery. I don't know? Copier ran out of paper? She wanted to dominate the news yet again? Do I care? Does it prove anything?....um...no, it doesn't. Next 24 hour news cycle please. This is soooo Wednesday. [:D]

That excuse is starting to get old. Sure, Bush was inept. But it's going to get harder and harder to deflect blame as the current administration continues.

How long can Kenya Barry's Koolaid drinkers still pretend all current problems were previously inherited before they lose all credibility? 6 more months, 1 year, 2 years, halfway into the next term or never?

I'm not comparing the intelligence of Obama vs the intelligence of Palin. I was comparing the situation....podium...notes...Q&A session....and wondering why Palin couldn't just write three little ol' words on the last page of her notes and then step back to the podium or casually pass by it if she couldn't remember them.

I criticized Palin in my post, not defended her.
