I guess the best approach is to deal with this on a point by point basis.

To your first point:I was simply applying djcraig's methodology for assessing a person's worth on him. His reaction indicated how much he enjoyed it. No sarcasm, just returning in kind; a huge and obvious difference.

On your second point: totally innocent, and as such that is how I plead. Rotator even gave an explanation for all to see. I merely asked why he recanted his original post to which I had typed a reply. Once I posted my response, I noticed his post was missing. I assumed he deleted it. By doing so, my response to his now non-existent post looked out of place, so I deleted my post. No sooner than I had done that, his new post appeared, hence my second post. As I stated - totally innocent, and does nothing to support your smug Mr. Rogers theory.

As for the approved list comment, just who determines who can sing what song? It's a valid question, and one which deserved to be asked since the clear implication was that Ms. Dion was somehow not entitled to or unworthy to sing the AC/DC anthem.

Which brings us to your last piece of evidentiary material, Philip's comments. Most distasteful coming from somebody who should be more in tune with the art of another. I'm sure if I were to look at one of Philip's photographs and pass some disparaging remarks, he wouldn't appreciate it. My comments were intended to appeal to his sense of artistic appreciation.

So in answer to your last question, no, I'm not kidding. For you to present so weak a case against me I might well ask you the very same thing: Are YOU kidding?

Mod from another board, everyone was just playing around. To discuss Celine Dion on a New Wave board is really out of place and I wouldn't expect to see many of her fans here. (I'm not one of them myself)

It always makes me a bit skeptical when a new member makes his or her debut in a thread like this. Wouldn't you want to post about new wave music before you get into it about Celine Dion with veteran members of this board?

Hello marie3. I wish I could believe it was all just a bit of playing around. The point I've been making all along is while I would not expect there to be a huge contingent of Celine fans here, as you correctly point out, I would expect that the discussion remain in the bounds of one's ability to appreciate her talent. That didn't take place: instead, phrases like horse face and the like passed unquestioned. When I called various people on it, the attack turned to me and another member, who happened to share my viewpoint on the matter.

Let me ask you: how does insulting a person's physical appearance pass for playing around? For that matter, how does attacking me for asking people to refrain from posting insulting remarks and showing simple respect for a differing opinion pass for playing around?

If I could take a further moment to address your skepticism : I think you will find that I made a series of posts in the Mike & The Mechanics thread in the Obscure 80s section. I was summarily beat up for my crime: that of professing to enjoy the submitted version of the song, and thanking the member who took the time to post it.

In looking around here, I can't hope to compete with the vast musical knowledge contained among the board's membership as it's staggering, but I might be able to teach a member or two about respect for each person's unique makeup. Maybe that will be where I leave my mark on this board.

I once saw a female singer with a mouth bigger than Titanic.

Guess who she is.

Your last 3 posts are stupefying in their pointlessness. Ever think of joining the New Wave Zone? Andy needs one more person to get to a whole 100 members!!!!

Oh BTW: Hi Andy! I know you read more shit here than at the Zone.

This was actually an interesting thread. We started out by discussing the horse's face. Now we're dealing with the horse's ass.

Marie makes a good point. MFAB graces us with his/her presence and decides to makes their debut on the NEW WAVE Outpost doing two things: 1-defending Celine Dion and 2-defending Mike + and the Mechanics. That rightly should engender some skepticism.

I keep asking myself what's the connection of MFAB to the Outpost and I can't seem to find one. Unless the other board he/she moderates at is:

Celine's UNited and True Fans Looking to Assert her Prettiness and Style

Then the connection is clear.[:o)]

I really have to question your effectiveness as a moderator. If you fold yourself up into the fetal position like this at the first sign of a tussle, you may want to stay down in the junior leagues. How do you handle conflict at that Special Ed class that you moderate?

"...For that matter, how does attacking me for asking people to refrain from posting insulting remarks and showing simple respect for a differing opinion pass for playing around? ..."

Because you aren't a moderator at this board, dumbass. If you want to throw in, grow a pair and quit whining when someone tells you how stupid you are. What are you, French?

As for the last comment, get off your knees, wipe your chin off and if you are serious about participating, put up or shut the fuck up already. We don't need, nor want, you to leave your mark.

Since it would probably be a skidmark...the traditional "mark" left behind by an asshole.

I guess some good advice for new people here would be to read up on the threads and see what we are all about. We are all about what this very thread represents. We made a few funny remarks, and then someone comes on and gets all mad. Then we go further and further. Everyone was just having fun with the reactions to the comments. Even worse is the reaction to our comments.....on such a ridiculous subject. I have not laughed so much in a long time. It was almost like watching that "leave Brittany alone" guy. Have some "horse sense" and see we are all having fun. If it is not your type of fun then it is not your type of place because this is who we all are.

And btw, the last guy that questioned my photographic ability got stabbed in the neck.
