eight6: "all players being equal, Gates bears the brunt of responsibility for this situation becoming what it has"

I disagree (no surprise), but stepping back and looking at this at a macro level, I have to lay a crapload of blame at Obama's feet for turning this from a parochial matter into a media circus.

What kind of message is he sending when he suggests that even something as serious as this situation can be made better or perhaps completely overcome by sitting around and consuming alcohol? What is his thought process here? Suggesting that members of 2 ethnic groups known for having their share of problems with alcohol throughout history get together and knock back a few 40's of Colt .45 and a few pints o'Guinness is at best irresponsible.

Really? Even with your incredible intellect and powers of perception you didn't recognize that as satire?

If Gates hadn't acted like an ass, Obama could have avoided wasting the past few days backpedaling on this topic, and gotten down to some serious backpedaling on other, more worthy issues.

I think this is done, you?

Unreal. No matter how retarded a situation becomes, it hasn't reached full retardation until a religious group gets involved.

Hey at this point why not ride the wave of this shitstorm and get free publicity? Nobody had ever heard of that church and now we have. Mission accomplished. I bet the offering plate this Sunday will be a little heavier than usual and that's really what this "protest" is really about.
I'm kicking myself for not printing up "Team Gates" and "Team Crowley" t-shirts and selling them online. I could've made some decent money by now. Hey! Maybe it's not too late! [}:)]
