Except for the part about genetic tampering, I'm with him all the way. Even on the genetic thing I can see part of his point.
I mean there are a lot of positive things that can come from this research but there are an equal number of disastrous possibilities as well.

"At the Fourth Station, where Jesus is helped by Simon the Cymene to carry the cross, Pope Benedict and his followers will pray: “Lord Jesus, our affluence is making us less human, our entertainment has become a drug, a source of alienation, and our society’s incessant, tedious message is an invitation to die of selfishness.”

This is a true statement isn't it?

Bioethics is such a delicate subject.... I think that one should really get a good education on this field before emiting opinions.

What???? I seriously do not emit opinions on the subject cause I don't feel prepared for it. Plus I really take this seriously and plan to take some Bioethics seminar really soon in the future.

People.... I'm 19... I'm not a child anymore. I'm not all grown up yet but I don't just have to paraphrase stuff that other people say, I'm entitled to having my own view into subject like this.

Honestly I agree with you. It's simple for the media to simplify a topic, to water it down to the point that only the sensational aspects get the puiblicity.
In turn, those with an agenda have ammunition & influence to supress, or try to supress whatever worthy research is happening. (Hello Geo. W. Bush & the "human/animal" hybrids...)

If we stood in the way of science everytime someone thought there was an evil or dangerous application, then we would still be driving flintstone cars with our feet and trying to pray away the troll in your stomach that's causing you gas...

btw - Stella - Don't think I'm directing that at you or your comment. I'm not saying you're one of those people!

But I'm not stupid just cause I have some personal growing to do.

Why slways so dismissive??? Well, not everybody can be amiable... so people just don't have anything better to be than asses.

I'm not stupid just because I have some personal cultivation years ahead.

Anyway, some people don't have anything better in their lives than being dismissive. My years of growing have proved me that... and also that I don't one to be part of that group. Luckily, some people here are in fact good examples such as Marie or UR.

Being dismissive? Listen cupcake, if we were being dismissive, we wouldn't have wasted the 2.5 minutes it took to read the crap that you've been posting.

I will say this - you write with an arrogance that betrays your age.

Yes you are entitled to your opinion Mechi. Bioethics is for sure a complicated subject. I would be really interested in knowing what they teach you. Bio engineering was only a science fiction when I was 19, Philip K Dick and Isaac Asimov.

It's a well known fact that indigestion is caused by sitting too close to a newt, or having your humours in disarray.
(By the looks of it, there's a lot of indigestion here these days!)
