Of course he deserves it. He deserves to be drawn and quartered in the town square, eaten alive by fire ants, whatever torture you want dream up.

I'm still 100% against the death penalty, though.

If I got the 100% assurance that only those who are guilty of the crime get put to death and that the punishment will be metted out equally among rich, poor, and all races fairly, then I'd be all for it.

As a devastated father, I'd probably contact one of my weapons dealers for a ceramic knife to sneak into the courtroom and gut the animal from groin to throat myself.

As a society, we have the capability to lock him up and punish him for the rest of the life. This animal revels in death. I've also heard 9/11 relatives very solemnly say that the likes of Moussaoui also honor death, so thus why give them what they celebrate? Make them suffer a very long time. Lock them up in solitary for awhile then see how they 'get along' with the rest of the prison population.

I read about that guy. It really is sick to the extreme. And shows there are bad people everywhere. Keep your eyes open and trust your gut feelings about people. As a parent, I always know who my kids are with. I am also very visible in my community and people know me. It helps. People would think twice before messing with my kids. They usually go for an easier target. They want to get away with it.

That's why as a resident of Washington (state) I can say that I am for the death penalty, but I would have trouble supporting the death penalty laws as administered in, say, Texas. I've read the state Supreme Court opinions on every death penalty case in Washington since the death penalty was reauthorized in Washington in about 1977, and IMHO in the Washington cases where death was imposed, there are no doubts whatsoever about the guilt of the perp or the appropriateness of the sentence. We don't have anyone on death row here for mere accomplice liability, nor is race an issue; plus, several of the men on death row here have killed before.

Of course, a Texan would point out that Washington has administered the death penalty here only three times since it was reauthorized, and in two of those cases the perps were serial or mass killers (of children) who'd waived appeal.

One of Washington's problems in administering the penalty is that until fairly recently the prescribed method was hanging. One guy argued that his execution should be stayed because at 400 lbs he was too fat to hang; his head would have popped off. He died in prison.

As you've all probably heard, the Green River killer was able to avoid the death penalty by cutting a deal with prosecutors to confess and to lead them to undiscovered remains. Many people here thought that would be the end of the death penalty in WA, because our statutes require the court to engage in a proportionality review. Recently, though, the state Supreme Court rejected this argument. I think the next guy who's set to die killed a teenage girl when he was about 22, not long after he was released from juvie for killing someone else.

That sounds about right: The killer's confesion, the body/bodies, DNA evidence; all of that has to be added up to amount to death. Anything less and I cannot support it.
