Bad idea. I hate the idea of nukes. Suppose we missed our target? Suppose we hit our target and the target blew up, did the China Syndrome thing and the radiation made the whole eastern Mediterranean uninhabitable? Check out the Chernobyl footprint in National Geographic this month.

I don't think the Iranians will stop. We went to war in Iraq for way less than what these guys have been doing so I guess we are not up to it for whatever reason. We have so much power in this country and yet we are powerless because our 'leaders' are inadequate to say the least.

Does anyone think it's possible to wage peace? What would that look like?

As long as there are people on this planet there will never be peace. I'm afraid it's just a part of humanity. I don't understand it, because I think peace would be so much nicer...

Same goes for Democracy.
There is no such thing as environmentally friendly.
We should just accept what we are and be happy that way.[:)]

Beyond killing them all the next best thing that can be done to countries whose only claim to fame is oil would be the accelerated development in areas such as fuel cell technology to power automobiles. Hit them in their collective pockets, then tell them to stick their oil where the sun don't shine and go back to camel herding.

I totally agree! Let them eat their oil. We need to go after alternative fuels now. Sooner or later the oil will run out. Better we do it now.

Stella, wake up!! Suppose we miss our target??? You must be out of the loop. Once again Stella, the U.S. [i]is[/i] the most powerful nation on the planet, but when 90% of what you could do is off limits for the sake of PC then what would you expect? The leaders aren't as much inadequate as they are playing by different rules. Did FDR or Truman have to worry about being PC?

The example that we are showing the world is that you better obtain nuclear weapons or we (The U.S) are coming after you to blow you up back into the stone age (Iraq-Iran-Afghanistan etc). But countries that have them (China-N.Korea-Pakistan-Israel-etc..) We leave alone.

I don't think it's a matter of leaving them alone as much as it it who poses the most immediate of threats. Iran having nuclear capabilities makes North Korea look tame by comparison. And as for the others in your list, really, do you feel threatened by them and their potential to use a nuclear weapon?

Please Edison, they hate everyone who isn't them. Why does Mahmoud Ahmadinejad state that one of his goals is to wipe Israel off the face of the earth? Last time I checked, Kim Jong-il, although a moron, has at least entertained the thought of rational discussion regarding the continuation/monitoring of their nuclear program. I think he uses the nuclear threat as a bargaining chip for the advancement of N. Korea.

The main difference between the two as I see it is that Iran views this as a religious conquest of the world in the name of Allah. Same old story really.

Mahmoud hates the world and we don't? He says he wants to attack others who are not like them and we don't?

The media made damned sure that his words got into your head and with that they have sealed your support for us attacking Iran. (they did it so easily.).. My eyes and ears are a bit more immune to such propaganda. I will not fall into this crazy support of a next World War. This invasion will be Bush's icing on the cake but unfortunately it would be us who will pay for and suffer for this concoction.

No they don't...but they do own an impressive military of their own capable of kicking Iran's ass back to the stone age in a heartbeat. The reason they don't is that they have a sufficient amount of brain power governing them as well as civility and respect for others who have a differing view. Iran has none of those.

The difference between the U.S. and Iran is that the U.S. removed a murderous dictator, and has tried to allow the roots of democracy to take hold. Yes, the jury is still out on whether it will ultimately be successful, or indeed whether it was the right thing to do. Iran, on the other hand, simply wants to wipe out a group of people...big difference. You expect me to believe these are comparable acts?

Thanks for your simplistic analysis of my cognitive abilities. The truth of the matter is if there was any quote attributable to Ahmadinejad showing him to be in any way cerebral, caring or benevolent, then I guess I would have a better understanding of his motives. As I don't, perhaps you can enlighten me as to why you think his statements are non threatening. I haven't advocated an invasion of Iran, you put those words into my mouth; I have said and continue to say Iran poses the single greatest threat to the world at this time. You can't discuss points of view and find resolutions with a government who has no interest in listening.

I agree... That guy is a loose canon with something to prove and i really don't see him backing down. The only thing i worry about is if the shit does hit the fan is who will have their back.... Hey 86... if it does go down and a long war breaks out ... you'll have to tell me of some good places in Canada to send my son... [;)]
