Quite a while back in a "Favorite Beer" thread, you recommended Lindeman's Kriek. I finally got the chance over the weekend to give it a try, and I *LOVE* it! (I almost didn't get the top off of it, but that's a different story).

So, yay! It's not a conventional beer, but it's going to work for me [:D]

Sweet! Isn't it awesome? Yes, once you get through the Fort Knox security that is the bottle cap and then the cork, you get to the sweet bubbly nectar. Mmm, mmm, mmm... The bubbles that effervesce on the tongue, the warm sweetness of the naturally fermented cherries, but not too sweet--it's like cherry champagne. Damn, I'm craving some right now. BMG, I'm glad you tried it--and like it! Where on earth did you find it? It's really hard to find. I buy it at my local redemption center where I turn in my bottles and cans (of all strange places)!!! The owner special orders it for some old guy in my town.

[raising my glass to BMG!]

I found it at a huge, Wal-Mart-sized liquor store called Lee's Discount Liquors. Mr. BMG and I had stopped in looking for something else--a new drink called Peels. When we couldn't find that, I remembered your recommendation and went on the hunt.

(An employee was standing behind a make-shift bar, giving out samples of different wines. I've never liked wine, either, but he had me try a Lambrusco that I loved. So, I grabbed a bottle of the wine and then went on the hunt for the Kriek. I spent a loooong time wandering the aisles with a bottle in each hand. I probably looked like a lush [;)]

Fort Knox is an excellent description! We were on our way to a party and once I got in the car and we drove off from the liquor store, I discovered that there was no way I was going to get that bottle open. Somehow, Mr. BMG got it open with a cigarette lighter and a pocket knife [:D]
