Very interesting case with appalling facts on both sides. (Defense lawyer is a pretty media-savvy guy, some might say publicity hound, so take with appropriate amount of salt.) Also, in initial news reports the victim was described as being developmentally delayed, but that information has not appeared in more recent coverage and if she is DD she seems to be functioning at a pretty high level.

What do you think of the judge's ruling? Should the jury get to hear this additional information about how the victim solicited sex on the internet (and continued to do so after the alleged rape), showed a false birth certificate, etc.?

[This case was also interesting because prospective jurors were asked whether they'd ever done B&D, group sex, etc. And they say no one wants to serve on juries any more . . . ]

The creep is 48. What 48 year old is prowling around for a girl practically young enough to be his grand daughter (outside of Hugh Hefner)? Whether he knew the girl was under 18 or not (which he had to have known. Come on...) he's definitely guilty of being a A#1 creepazoid...but that's not a crime.


How in the hell could he NOT know she was under 18? I say bullshit. Let him hang. The courts coddle these creeps waaay too much.

Everything should be told in order to get a fair hearing of the events. The defendant should be afforded all venues to tell his side of the events. Otherwise, this trial is a sham and is weighed heavily against him... he's practically already convicted of the alleged crimes.

I think the jury should hear everything. It just goes to show that every victim may not necessarily be a victim - or at least not the perfect, innocent stereotype we envision.

My problem is that stories like this get a lot of press. Every nut job who hates women, or believes that women entrap men now has something to wave a flag over.

Exactly.

BTW, Wednesday-tomorrow night is another niteline special on to catch a predator. I'm watching.
