I listen with my headphones as loud as I can take it. I try to drown out the voices.

A lot of the time, it depends on what it is I'm listening to but I usually start off at a medium level and turn it up more and more as I go. Some songs are automatic max volume no matter what.

Why don’t you just make 10 louder and make 10 be the top number, and make that a little louder?

When the wife slams the basement door loudly I know the volume is just right.

Me, I like medium. I'm not too good with loud music generally (except at concerts[:p]).
But it depends what I'm doing. Like motors, it'll start off medium and then I'll turn it louder as the tunes go. But certain tasks, such as cleaning, the music needs to be turned up LOUD. (I enjoy cleaning, and loud music makes it better). And my ultimate Top 10 songs usually get turned up pretty loud, too.

I like it *LOUD* but keep it at a decent level in the house. When I'm alone in the car, though, the music's at eardrum-bursting levels.

Sometimes I like it loud, and sometimes I like it soft. I have a playlist in my iTunes called "Quiet" -- songs for when I want music, but also have to get work done.

Loud enough to drown out my flatemate's cheesy heavy metal, how's that?! But not to the point of hurting my ears![;)]
