"Cut and Run" or, Why I'm Going Nuts....

My apologies in advance for the rant....

I've had XM in my car since the end of 2002. As I've posted before I'm a real fan of Fred, Ethel, and Lucy on XM, even the 80's station and Chrome (disco) are worth a listen. Unfortunately about two weeks ago my car stereo went ka-blooey and the only thing that functions on it is AM/FM. While I'm in the process of getting a new stereo I've been listening to local radio on my commute. As my area music station formats are pretty abymissmal, I've been listening to some of the talk radio format stations in my area. And all I can say is....it's driving me NUTS! Can some of the learned posters here answer some questions for me?

1. Where the hell did all these conservative talk shows come from?
I mean, My God...Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck (who I particularly dispise), Ingram, Savage, Doyle, etc. etc. I mean, really, there has to be a reason that these shows are so popular they multiply like E. Coli at Hardees. Is it the content? Is the general public that in tune with a conservative philosophy? Really, everyone I need some insight...

2. If I here the words "cut and run" in relation to the Iraq war one more time.....I may have to "cut and run" right off the road. Just another mindless slogan to deter any real critical evaluation or debate of the war.
BTW Sean, Rush, Glen, Laura, Michael, and Jerry: if you think that the war is such a moral imperative, how about running down to your local army recrutment office and signing up, hmm? Or how about sending YOUR kids to Iraq? It never ceases to amaze me how brave some people can be with someone else's life.

Ok, I'm done. Time to reach for the diazepam....[:p]

NuWaveRx,
I sympathize.
Rant away! Recently, I was wondering the same thing, posting a thread about it. I enjoy political talk radio from time to time, but it does indeed seem like today's talk radio is filled with vitriolic, hyper-sensitive right-wing NUTS. And those are just the hosts! I can hardly listen anymore, not being able to find a more centrist or leftist outlet.
There are some good suggestions here:

Thanks, KYYX, I remember your thread. The funny thing is I never listened to talk radio on XM and they have both conservative and liberal talk shows on. I guess I didn't know what I was missing....
