What Do You Wake Up To?

Music wise? Is your clock-radio set to a news station? Music station? CD qeued up and ready to go? How about your commute to work? Is it mp3 player time? Does anyone have a music setup in the bathroom / shower?

I wake up to the news (1010 WINS) and listen to music all day at the office. In the car, 1010 again and after I've had my fill, I go right to the CDs. The only music I'll listen to on the radio is maybe Lite FM [}:)] [8D]

As much as a music fan as I am, I do not listen to music first thing in the morning. I'm totally out of it in the AM, and it takes me over a half hour to wake up properly after I get up.
So, I wake up to a beeping alarm clock (one of those tiny things that I've traveled around the world with). But in college, I woke up to talk radio.
I take very little time to get ready in the morning, so when I get in my car to drive to work, I'm still very groggy. I listen to talk radio or some AM news radio. The news voices soothe me and wake me. I can't explain it. It's the same thing as late at night, falling asleep to late-night talk radio or all-news. Very soothing. I know, I'm weird.
B/c during the day--it's ONLY music. NEVER talk radio, ever!

When I use an alarm clock it has to be some annoying alarm to actually get me up, so music isn't an option. The drive to work is usually 1010Wins to get the traffic report, a little weather, and some news. Then it's usually to a CD. I don't listen to radio anymore other than 1010 for the aforementioned reasons.

I generally wake up to the radio. I like radios that have the right balance between music and news... which are not many of them.

And of course.. the music has to be good.[;)]

If I were to wake up to music, I'd lay there, listen to it and eventually fall asleep.

I wake up to that in-between-station static.....loud static.

Annoying alarm that sounds like a bird being strangled.

I tried waking up to music - I thought one of those easy-listening, pop standards from the 40's & 50's stations would be a relaxing, non-jarring way to wake up. I was wrong - it didn't wake me up...back to the death bird.

I wake up to the world's loudest alarm clock blaring in my right ear.

I'm the most hateful person in the world in the mornings, and noise really sets me off, so no tv or music early for me. By the time I've gotten ready and into my car, I'm ready for it, though, and listen to it LOUDLY on the way to work.

I like to be worken up gently so I've got my clock radio set to the local classical music station. Works pretty well unless they're playing some bombastic symphony with lots of clashing cymbals.

I wake up to Quiet Riot's Come On Feel The Noise. I manually programmed my alarm clock so that whenever it goes off in the morning, I suddenly awake from my subconscious state of mind to hear COME ON FEEL THE NOISE! GIRLS ROCK YOUR BOYS! WE"LL GET WILD! WILD! WILD! WILD! WILD! WILD!

Truth be told, I work nights and only have that cherished (night time) sleep two times a week (plus during vacations).

Been doing it for the better part of 9 years, so I'm used to it.

However, like other parents on this board, my wake up call (on my two days off) sounds like this:

(little footsteps approach the door.. door knob slowly turns.. door opens.. e-v-e-r s-o-o s-l-o-w-l-y)

Eldest child (5 y/o daughter) stands next to bed awaiting my groggy response..

Daddy.. I need more chocolate milk (or) Daddy.. you forgot to leave the TV set to PBS / Noggin (or) Daddy.. are we going to (fill in the blank..) today?

Yeah, there could be worse ways to get woken up in the morning![|)]

Besides waking up to nagging, I never use an alarm clock. I have this wierd ability to wake up at any time I choose. I usually get up at 5 but this week I needed to get up at 4:30 so I just thought about it and went to bed. 4:30 I'm up.
