Yesterday I took my wife to our dentist's office for her to get a tooth pulled. When we sat down in the waiting area there were 3 choices to read. My wife quickly snatched the local arts magazine. This left me to choose between AARP and The Book of Mormon. After briefly wondering why the Book of Mormon was sitting on a coffee table in Florida, I picked up AARP( I was still too lazy at this point to walk the 20 feet to our car to grab my iPod).
When I flipped the magazine open I was shocked to find an interview w/ Debby Harry. [:0]YES AN INTERVIEW WITH DEBBY HARRY IN AARP! Pay attention, I just told you why I picked up AARP, that's not the issue. I SAID DEBBY HARRY IS IN AARP!!
I guess this is just the sign of more to come, though. It's probably only a matter of time before we hear on the news about Elvis Costello getting an artificial hip or Peter Hook getting a pacemaker or some other such medical problem of the artists which we like.
Unfortunately I'm on call for the next few days so I can't even get drunk to erase this from my mind. I guess the moral of the story is to never forget your iPod!

That is a lesson well learned.
Thats why i still reach for the Highlights Mag.

On topic, Debbie Harry is 10 years older than some of her bandmates. She was over 30 when their debut was released.

Debbie Harry already looked as old, or older, tha her Blondie bandmates even back in the 60s when she was with The Wind In The Willows, so I am guessing she about 56 or so??? Thing is with AARP, the minute you hit 50, they start the recruitment process, and they don't give up.

I've been happy all week. On Tuesday night I went out to buy beer and the cashier asked me for my ID. I almost kissed her. 40 is not so bad right now.[:D]

I have no idea what that magazine is as I am from the uk-is it a health magazine? Oh and I think deborah Harry looks amazing for her age, hope I look that good when I'm an old lady and she was stunning when Blondie came out, she's one of my heroes!(I'm wearing a Blondie style tube top as I type this)[8)]I was a little kid when Blondie were on the go originally though...[8)]

AARP is the American Association Of Retired Persons, they publish a monthly magazine for old people.

Fred Schneider turned 55 yesterday.
Lemmy from Motorhead will be 61 on Christmas eve.
Charlie Harper from the UK Subs is about the same age, no one really knows for sure. I've seen reports that he was born in 1944.

Thanks for that! How embarrassing I imagine it's bad enough to be old never mind having a magazine aimed at old people, the have them here too!I mean when I get old I don't want to BE old except in the eccentric sense so no change there LOL[:D]

Most of our New Wave heroes are well on their way to 50 or older. New Wave and Punk is 25-30 years old. They'll be playing many of these songs on the Oldies stations soon as most Oldies stations tend to feature music from the 60's and 70's these days.

If you ever listen, they've pretty much eliminated the 50's music because fans of the 1950's are in their 70's or more and they're not a viable market anymore for the radio business.

Has anyone ever seen old people listening to 50s Rock & Roll? It's mainly that Glenn Miller crap![}:)] It's all about TEH CAROUSEL, BEHBY![8D]

Here in Argentina, our oldies station, Aspen, puts on a lot of New Wave.
I always see people around their 40s listening to Aspen and that makes me laugh cos I also listen to it. So my 19 years are kinda weird cos I have the taste of people that are like 15-20 years older.
