I finally saw the new Pirates movie yesterday....

Let me tell you, I LOVED the first one and was so looking forward to this (even though I wasn't expecting it to be as good)...

Well, I won't give away any spoilers, but this one was long, kinda slow and not a lot of action and fun. In fact, Jack Sparrow was pretty much an unlikeable dickhead and not as charming as the first movie (which I guess means he's more like a real pirate in this one?).

It was definitely a darker film and Davey Jones (the PIRATE, not the Monkee) and his crew were awesomely gruesome. Lots of plot twists kept it interesting....

So, it's a good film, but not like the first one...

And this film felt more of a prequel to 2007's third installment than a sequel to the first film.

I prefer a heaving live girl's chest[}:)] The movie was okay... a bit lengthy! Sort of reminds me of those old Errol Flynn movies, but twice as long-winded[xx(]

Long and if you just like watching a "middle" of a movie it was ok, I had low expectations as well and it barely met them.

It was too freaking long, for one thing. The second thing that bugged me was that I didn't know what the darn thing was about plot-wise until I got hammered over and over and over the head with it from the middle of the movie on. I'm a pretty smart girl, but I sat there for a looooong time wondering where the movie was going.

The best part? Cannibals. That entire part was great.

I loved the first movie, too, so here's hoping next summer's installment makes up for this one.

Saw it a few days ago and I agree with you Spaz, a little drawn out and not as good as the first. It's hard for sequels to live up to the originals. I am looking forward to the next one to tie up all the loose ends. Please take my advice and don't purchase a large soda and down it early in the movie unless you plan on missing some of the movie it's that long.

YAAAAWWWWWNNNNNNNN! .. maybe Keith Richards will hold my attention in the
next installment.

To draw an 80s anaology, here's how I felt walking out of the theater? I felt almost exactly as I did coming out of Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom. After seeing an unexpected gem of a flick (not saying the original Pirates is on par with Raiders), I was looking forward to how'd they develop the characters and story more. Instead, there was this deep feeling of detachment, as if watching some caricature of a movie being played out...something that looked like a move, had characters like a movie, had effects like a movie, kind of a beginning and an end like a movie...but it wasn't really a fooking movie at all! It was hollow husk, a running dash through a whole bunch of clamoring footage that didnt' amount to crap! Know what I'm saying?

Oh well, I guess that describe 90% of Hollywood movies today. [V]

I went with an open mind not to analyze the crap out of it so I could enjoy it.Entertaining enough that my 8 year old son loved it.So,I got my moneys worth.Still, felt the first one was much better.
