Here at NWO, I think it's safe to say that we like making and contributing to lists. So, let's have a thread about your top ten whatever you feel like listing that day. Doesn't have to be music-related. You can post anything you want: from your top ten favorite books to the top ten things you hate about feet, from the top ten things you are anticipating in the next three months to the top ten biggest assholes in the headlines. Whatever you want.

I'll start it off mellow and do Top Ten Best Books I've Read (or partially read where noted) in the Past Few Years, in the order in which they come to mind:

1. Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace

2. Lunar Park by Bret Easton Ellis

3. Glamorama by Bret Easton Ellis

4. Ghost Story by Peter Straub

5. The Traveling Vampire Show by Richard Laymon (seems to be the only good book he wrote)

6. 13 Steps Down by Ruth Rendell

7. 20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill (partially read -- short story book)

8. Marathoning for Mortals by John "The Penguin" Bingham & Coash Jenny Hadfield (still reading this one, but the training program is working)

9. The Planetary comic book series

10. Case Histories by Kate Atckinson

Don, I've never even heard of those books! That sounds like a great list, though.

I could make a thousand of my own categories, but you know what--I'll also do my Top 10 books I've read in recent years:

1. Angela's Ashes - Frank McCourt
2. The Poisonwood Bible - Barbara Kingsolver
3. Cider House Rules - John Irving ( a reread)
4. A Prayer For Owen Meany - John Irving (also a reread, but I love these books)
5. The Robber Bride - Margaret Atwood
6. To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee (something we all had to read way back in the day; since I no longer remembered it, I thought I'd reread it. WOW!)
7. Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald (same deal as above)
8. Guns, Germs, and Steel - Jared Diamond (nonfiction)
9. Light in August - Faulkner
10. Seamus Heaney's version of Beowulf....WOW!

Top 10 things I enjoy doing:
1. Making a great portfolio quality photograph.
2. Running - I love that I'm almost 100% healthy again and I love running.
3. Sex
4. Tivo... Seinfeld, and watching the Daily Show on my Tivo
5. Eating a meal I love... could be Papa John's pepperoni & sausage pizza with cold pinapple bits that I put on at home, could be a sandwhich with Poore Brothers barbaque chips on the side, could be Thai noodles with shrimp, could be lasagne from Costco with 3 pieces of bread and cinnamon apple sauce.

8. My home

My top ten list of things I hate about being sick (in no particular order) like I am today [xx(]

1. High fever.
2. No appetitie.
3. Headache.
4. Chills (though this did subside last Friday).
5. Joints ache.
6. Always sleepy.
7. That "medicated" feeling from Dimetapp & Tylenol cocktails.
8. Can't get too close to my loved ones [:(]
9. Chest hurts like hell when I cough. Definitely bronchitis...I know the feeling.
10. Having to work when I'm sick [:(!]

1. Fav band: Duran Duran (well... Aspen FM is devoting this month to them so it's 24-7 DD)
2. Fav food: paella (I've practically eaten my body weight of paella)
3. Fav TV show: Grey's Anatomy... what a super cool episode the one of today.
4. Fav drink: Graffigna Malbec wine... cool that my dad has a good taste for wine and shares it!!
5. Fav movie of the week: Brokeback mountain
6. Fav author of the week: Borges
7. Fav outing of the week: Buenos Aires' Fine Arts Museum
8. Fav music video of the week: Devo's "Whip it". [:D]
9. Fav day of the week: yesterday.. the weather was weirdly at around 20 celsius degrees.
10. Fav weird fact of the week: my mum copying my sister's harido and my dad getting done the same model of glasses that I wear. Talk about parents inspiring their kids??? It's the other way round. [8D]

I could probably lose enough weight to look like Nicole Richie too but unlike some people, I have a job that involves a fair amount of heavy physical labor and I have to eat all that high fat content food just to maintain my weight (a ripped 190 lbs. at 5'11").

1. SAVOY: "Reasons To Stay Indoors" (from the CD "Reasons To Stay Indoors") - Norwegian band fronted by a-ha's Pal Waaktaar that actually has almost as many studio albums out as a-ha (they're only trailing 8 to 5)
2. SPIRIT OF THE WEST: "Wishing Line" (from the CD "Two Headed") - Canadian band
3. VITTORIO GRIGOLO: "Bedshaped (Cosi)" (from the CD "In The Hands Of Love") - this is an operatic take on Keane's "Bedshaped", and it's phenomenal.
4. RED BOX: "The Power Is Down" (from the CD "Motive") "Motive" was their follow up to "The Circle And The Square". I don't even own this CD - it was long out of print by the time I discovered it existed - R.I.P. AudioGalaxy!
5. THE WHITLAMS: "Blow Up The Pokies" (from the CD "Love This City") - fantastic Australian band, this is actually a gorgeous ballad about a friend's gambling addiction ("pokies" are slot machines in Oz)
6. PAUL BRADY: "Crazy Dreams" (from the CD "Hard Station") - folk-pop singer from Northern Ireland
7. LEVEL 42: "Love In A Peaceful World" (from the CD "Forever Now")
8. a-ha: "Out Of Blue Comes Green" (from the CD "Stay On These Roads")
9. GEORGE: "Release" (from the CD "Polyserena") - another Aussie band
10. JAMES REYNE: "Who The Hell Do You Think You Are?" (from the CD "The Whiff Of Bedlam") - yet another Aussie, the former singer of Australian Crawl

Wow. I never heard any of those tunes. You wouldn't happen to have a copy of that Level 42 song to share, would you?

Okie dokie, here be's my top ten favorite comic book/cartoon characters of the moment...

10- American Flagg. Wonderfully amoral hero.
9- The Thing. Ben Grimm rocks. Pun intended.
8- Uncle Scrooge McDuck. Mostly because Carl Barks produced his best stories.
7- Conan the Barbarian. "Savage Sword of Conan" was a great pulp comic.
6- Space Ghost. Greatest made for TV super hero ever.
5- Captain Marvel. Mostly for his supporting cast. Talking tigers rule.
4- Spider-Man. The 60's comics and cartoon show was great stuff, made me a fan for life.
3- Miracleman aka Marvelman (in the UK). My introduction to Alan Moore. A great re-imagining of Captain Marvel.
2- Rorschach. Another great Alan Moore character, based on various Steve Ditko characters (Question, Mr. A)
1- Batman. Big fan of the 1960's Adam West version.
