Hi all,

At first glance, it sounded nuts but, the whole "Tom Jones Gone New Wave"gag actually worked! Between "Situation," "Burning Down The House" and "Kiss," they actually sounded great.

What are your picks of those kooky artist/song combos that just plain worked?

I was always partial to the Johnny Cash / U2 team up for Zooropa's The Wanderer. Johnny owns.

Anybody hear the Propellorheads production of Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger?

Not really kooky, but unexpected, with great results: Dusty Springfield with the Pet Shop Boys.

That is, if you consider the Pet Shop Boys new wave. Wouldn't want to offend any of the new wave nazis here by miscategorizing something.[:D]

Pet Shop Boys also got together with Liza to produce her last album. Interesting takes on "Rent" and "Tonight Is Forever" with Liza singing lead.

Then there's Johnny Cash & Joe Strummer 's cover of "Redemption Song".
