So...it seems like a colder than normal Fall this year. I've been hestitating to turn the heat on - especially with oil costs.
But, it's been 35 for the past 2 nights...I had to do it this morning. I feel like a wimp.

So, anyone else have the heat on yet?

Isn't it getting cool enough for TNT or TBS to start running "A Christmas Story" for 24 straight hours yet?

Just filled the oil tank yesterday-$1.89 a gal. What a bargain !! (sadly,I'm not being sarcastic) Don't want to burn it up too soon so we use the fireplace a lot this time of year. I remember paying 59 cents a gallon when we first bought our house 12 years ago, those were the days...

What cold? What autumn? What are you talking about? I'm still sitting here in an air conditioned room in an air conditioned house in a plac that's still getting highs in the mid 90s. I scoff at your mere fantasies of this "autumn" thing. Autumn is but a fantasy right now, a mere flight of fancy brought on by a quick glance at the calendar and a decision that This Must Be Autumn. For it isn't. It's still bloody late summer to us. The sun is still potent. The humidity's still with us. And I'm still a miserable and cranky so-and-so because of that. Could someone at least take the bloody sun away from here? Maybe give us cloudy and overcast instead? I'd like that. If the sun were controlled by a man, I'd stick a gun near his head and force him to make the sun beat a hasty retreat from here. NO MORE SUNNY DAYS OR ELSE THE NEXT POOR SAP WHO FRUSTRATES ME WITH HIS/HER HUMANITY GETS IT.

*ahem* You were saying?

Eight six is right, I have a friend in Canada and he tells me about horror stories. Living with snow that does not melt and just keeps stacking up.

yes it is!
I agree that to Canada, or Alaska (where I'm originally from), it's NOT, but to the rest of us sun-loving denizens, IT IS. So there ![;)] (and I must add that I'm such a wimp now. I can't believe I lived thru all those cold temps. Winters at 10 below to 50 below....where it would briefly "warm up" to 0 F, just to slip again down to 30 below. The 1st day in March or April that it reached freezing--32 F--we had this campus tradition that we'd all wear shorts to celebrate. Because after a whole 6 months of below freezing temps, 32 WAS positively warm !
But you know what ? Screw that! I live in hot sunny New Mexico now, and I'm a bona-fide wimp! Give me solar heat !

Cold? Heaters?

No, not in October, apparently. And probably not in November, either.

*cries*
