I've watched a handful of his interviews, not bad. For a sports angle, I also like that Stephen Smith guy on ESPN.

One of the reasons I asked was his brief interview in Gotham magazine's so-called "Chicer by the Dozen" articles...12 questions to supposed hipsters. Deutsch's...
1. Fav NYC Restaurant - Nobu - how obvious...and so 2003 btw
2. Drink of Choice - Chateau Cheval Blanc - how eurotrash
3. Best new music - Bob Dylan's Modern Times - ooookay, whatever
4. Team worth rooting for - NY Jets - the Yankee collapse was the best time to lose 38-0
5. Most-loved Artist - My dad - how cliche...but I'll give him a bye on this
6. Current ride - Escalade - make sure to wear a skewed cap too
7. Great R&R place - St. Barth's - how Robin Leach
8. Coolest new gadget - iPod Nano - how original
9. Can't miss TV shows - Entourage and The Office - how semi quasi pseudo hip
10. Charity making a difference - Michael J Fox Foundation - shocking, something with a big name attached
11. Preferred place to shop - Scoop NYC - you're so not 25 dude
12. Comfiest gear to kick around in - Adidas Stan Smith vintage - how yuppie middle-age ornamented
These answers grated on me, not sure why. I'm likely just in a cynical mood today, I'll grant that. But 12 questions leading to 12 answers adorned with the thinnest pastiche of TV-ready chic, the kind of chic that makes the 80% of people that are the lowest common denominator US consumers go "Oooh, how chic", the 10% self-important professional chicsters go "Loser!" and the 10% independent thinkers go "OMG, please STFU, who cares."
Dunno why my reaction. Maybe it's all the travel I've been doing in NYC and Boston lately and the seemingly growing population of 40 to 50-somethings who are just trying way too hard. I think it's all well and great to have your likes, your music, your toys and quirks and habits that set you apart as an individual from others. But there seems to be a thin line where those things get co-opted as a blunt force weapon to tell people how cool you are. Deutsch just seems like the nauseating poster-boy for that segment of that generation.
I'll give him credit where due though. In answer to how he got drawn into the big-time ad world..."being a member of the lucky sperm club" [his dad being founder of David Deutsch Assoc].

More info on him here.

Why anyone who is worth probably well over 200 million would waste his time hosting a talk show is beyond me.

Who knows. Does that ever happen?

I certainly think this does happen all the time and that he is indeed talented...a talented weenie that's starting to annoy me just a wee bit more everytime I see him.

What bothers me about him is his irritating tendency to frequently use a high-pitched tone as part of his vocal delivery. He sounds like a whiny kid begging for a cookie...
Oh and he looks like Beatrice Arthur only more feminine.
