Totally Awesome 80's movie, or not

Postby kimiiii » Mon Nov 13, 2006 11:58 am

Has anyone else seen the movie called Totally Awesome that was made by VH-1? It was on tv awhile ago and it was released on DVD yesterday.

It's a spoof of 80's movies - starring Chris Kattan.

I wanted it to be funny. I really did. But it wasn't. It really wasn't.

If "made by VH-1" wasn't clue enough, "starring Chris Kattan" should have made it painfully clear that this was something to be avoided.

<p align="justify">Nothing can replicate or emulate the total awersomeness that was the 80s. Nothing. They can do it with the 60s, the 70s, maybe even the 50s and the 90s, but the 80s was a fukken anomaly. Nobody has been able to bottle it up and repackage it. That 70s Show took off like tie-dyed shirts at a Dead concert while That 80s Show was as abyssmal as New Coke. The proof is in the puddin'[}:)]

Hey... I like Chris Kattan. Sometimes. OK, maybe once or twice... in an entire movie, that is.

I fell asleep halfway through the movie...The only funny character in the movie was the inspiring dancer and her over-acting...DANCING IS MY LIIIIFE!!!![:0]

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who despised it.

It tried TOO hard to emphasize jokes. This was made painfully clear when Ben Stein popped in to explain something. The movie copied other 80s movies too much to stand out on its own.

As someone who eats, sleeps, and breathes early 80s nostalgia, I can say with an expert tone that it was not worth it. VH1 had the nerve to do an "I love the 80s"-like special about the movie. Yes, a 1 hour show about a 2 hour(90 minute) movie. Don't pat yourself on the back too much there.

Try again, VH1. I enjoyed the "top 100 songs of the 80s" for the interviews more than this.

I wasn't going to take Kimiiis word for it> If I remember right, didn't she HATE fast times at Ridgemont High? So much so she even gave away her copy of it. Well the consensus is that it sucks so I'll avoid it.

Actually, she gave away that profanity-laced, borderline pornographic crime against god known as "Valley Girl".

What's wrong with Valley Girl? It's an overall good movie, and more importantly, Josie Cotton is in it.

We were just referencing the old thread (since deleted, of course) about how Kimiiii, Goddess of Morality was deeply offended by it and chose to give her copy away.

Personally, I loved the movie and its profanity and titty shots. [:D]

My parents made me go to church and pray for forgiveness because I watched Valley Girl. I could not believe what went on in that movie! Thank goodness I am perfect and above such terrible things like a story of a boy liking a girl! And I think there was kissing in that movie!
