I'll be the first to admit I adore Paris Hilton's album, amazing pop melodies that she is certainty not capable of but I dig it nonetheless. My question is we have these young boppy poppy girls on the scene and someone like Kim Wilde who just released an album this year with an updated rendition of "You Came" in the similar style of what is out today. My question is why don't we see someone like Kim Wilde, Mari Wilson or even Josie Cotton on MTV or VH1.

My thought is because they are older and will not appeal to the younger crowd, but looks and style in music but it doesn't make sense when almost everything out right now sounds the exact same.

You're right - I think the oldest you're likely to see being marketed to that audience is Liz Phair.

Welcome to the 21st century. I know it sucks, but that's just the way it is. Kids today only listed to crap, like reggaton, rap and all kinds of bull-shit. What pisses me of the most is that youngsters say that the 80's were gay and that the 70's were gay or that they sucked, and then they turn around and use the same beats and lyrics on their rap, or regatton music. [:(]

I hate hearing songs that i love being sampled in rap or hip hop songs. It sends chills up my spine. I also hate songs that have meaning too me being sold to companies for commercials.

I just heard Al Greens "Lets Stay Together" in a friggin tide commercial [V]

And Stevie Wonders "Don't You Worry Bout a Thing" in some Insurance commercial [:(!]

Well it's the younger crowd that buys most of the music. They don't appeal to a younger crowd because 12-15 year old girls can't relate to someone like Kim Wilde, who is old enough to be their mother.

The younger crowd wants stuff they can relate to and that can be easily marketed on Nickelodeon, the Cartoon Network, or "Degrassi Junior High."

When you think about it. it's basically always been that way. How many 1950's and 1960's musical acts did you care about in 1982?

I love the new Kelly Clarkson tune.... What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger). Rather engaging track, neat intro too. [:D]
