Big Snow in the Southwest

WE just got DUMPED on by a stalled snowmass, and it's still snowing ! All the highways/ roads are closed. I-40 going across New Mexico from the Arizona state line to the Texas state line is CLOSED. I-25 from Albuquerque to the Colorado state line is CLOSED. Our airport is CLOSED. There's no way IN or OUT of my city! This is the most snow I've ever seen here...we actually spent our morning shoveling the driveway. I left Alaska to get away from this! Anyway, this is INTENSE. Extraordinarily beautiful, but unexpected and intense.
Happy New Year's!

I know that to you big boys in the Northeast, New England, or even Minnesota, that this kind of snow is NOTHING.
But I just wanted to share this, b/c this is amazing.

Post your snow pictures !

Wow! That is something. Very beautiful for sure. I love the snow.
Enjoy it. I'm sure it won't last long down there. The dogs must be going crazy! [:)]

There hasn't been a single snow flake in NYC in more than 8 months! No snow in November or December for the first time in 130 years.
Enjoy it!

Same here...well, maybe a dusting in the outlying areas, but nothing that's stayed on the ground for more than a day.

Same story here - the so-called snowiest place in New York State.

I'm really jealous KYYX! I want some snow dammit!

Syracuse with no snow! Kind of like Buffalo without fires.

so pretty! Did your dogs play in the snow? There's nothing cooler than watching dogs go nuts in snow.

I can't believe we got so little snow this winter... but it actually snowed AND stuck to the ground today... I was out in the city with some girlfriends, and we were loving it.

I know my sister and her family have been stuck in Albuquerque for two days now, after their flight back to New York was initially cancelled.

I'm impressed that the stores over there stock snow shovels.

We're still snowbound. Most places are still closed down, although they opened partial sections of the Highways. I think you can drive to AZ now, and part of the way to CO, but not to TX.

philly: we got 16 inches at the airport (lowest elevation in the city), about 18" in our 'hood, 24" in the foothills, and northern NM got 3 and 4 feet. IN ONE DAY. It's a record. It's still amazing !
Now it's cleared out and moving across the Midwest.
Most people can't get out of their driveways, and cars are sliding all over the place.

The Labs were initially perplexed, but it didn't take them long to leap around in the snow. Very cute indeed !

And yes, we had to borrow a neighbor's snowshovel; he was the only person on the entire street with one. Most people were using their brooms !

We got the remnants of KYYX's snow here yesterday (only about 6 inches worth.) Finally got to break out my new snowthrower.

Here is my Snow Angel making a Snow Angel:
