Street Gangs: A Secret History

Has anyone else seen this on the History Channel ? It starts off in N.Y.C. in the 18th hundreds with Irish gangs in the Five Points area and ends in L.A. with the CRIPS and BLOODZ. Very interesting program which got me thinking . Has any NWO member ever been a street gang member or atleast know anyone that was in a street gang ?

I saw it & really liked it. I was especially interested in the old stuff. I think the History Channel also has a documentary on a Latino gang that's organized nationwide. Pretty scary, but facinating.

Obviously I've never been in a gang, unless you count Bfflogrrl, Dayglo Jo & I sitting at the top of Wescott resevoir every night during our youth, listening to songs on the boom box, drinking screwdrivers from a jar & getting kicked off by the police at least once a week.

Yep, we were badass. Supa badass!

I played football with a guy in pop warner who when in high school was pretty high up in F.T.T (as SoCal gang in Fullerton. It stood for Fullerton Tokers Town. We became good friends during football and it help me a few times when I found myself in the wrong place at the wrong time. He got me out of a few jams.

When I got out of the army I ran into him. He was with some friends and didn't recognize me. He was pretty fucked up and into PCP, heroin, had been to Chino a few times.

I felt bad, I got to know his family when we were younger and I'm sure it must have just killed them to see what became of him.

That's funny . [:D] I guess then that put me in a "gang" also. Most weekend nights there would be about twenty of us . We would meet in the Burger King parking lot then go hang out somewhere else and drink/listen to music for the rest of the night. Good times .

Well...I think Law Enforcement defines a gang as 3 or more people in an organized group. If that's the case Tom, with 20 members, you were a ganglord!

That sucks Ben. That story reminds me of when I grew up in Boston. This friend of mine from the old neighborhood was like this straight A student type from a good home and the whole nine yards .When I went back to visit a few years later I ran into him .He got involved with the wrong group of people and was now heavy into drugs and living in a car. Couldn't believe it.

When I was in high school at Rock Island High, we had a bunch of stoner friends who got together in various garages, basements parks etc... and challenged other schools in bong competitions. We were the Rock Island Bong Team and even had shirts with RIBT on them. If you messed with me I'd punch both of ya and half of the gang members would puke and the other half would laugh and the other half would chear us on. Man those were the days.

Are YOU KIDDING?! Do I know Flatbush?! I spent my first 25 years is Flatbush! Yep, it is a real place. It was a pretty tough place growing up. I was actually saved by a gang once when I lived there. I was about 8 and I was walking home with my friend when about 10 *cough cough* "URBAN YOUTHS" jumped us. As they were taking everything out of our pockets and were about to take our shoes (true), about 20 guys come running over from the park. The biggest dude just leaned over and said go home kid you don't want to see this. We ran but they beat the living shit out of those kids. Thanks guys!
Flatbush is now a very Island neighborhood made up of mostly Jamaicans and Haitians. I have no problem walking around there now.[:D]
